Oh I love that last pic of the leaves and branches. You are having such fun, my friend. I am happy for you. Weaving and spinning sounds like a lost art, but evidently not. You are carrying on traditions from the ancients. Namaste
Hola Sherry, I bet that place would be awesome! It is fun to plan for new beginnings, it is hard work but also lots of satisfactions. Good luck with everything, and let us know how it develops! Besos, Mel
Sherry, to have your own studio for crafts would be a dream come true! Looks like you are having so much fun. I started a knitting class last night and found out about a group that teaches weaving and will also rent looms out. This is something I've always wanted to learn --I'm excited to see what you create.
Dear Wendy, I fell in love with the hand painted silk when I saw it. I bought all the shop keeper had too...I think it will make excellent drape curtains for the studio. I am over the moon for spinning. It is an art and a pleasure. Namaste, Sherry the spinner
Dear Lavender Dreamer, It is an honour to know these amazing women...all of them are gracious and kind and fantastic mentors. My spinning teacher will also teach me to weave when I am ready and to knit. I am so blessed. Sherry
Dear Dawn, My studio is in the planning stages. We are looking at this summer to begin. I have a few "must happen" projects before the studio can take off. I have a sports car living where the studio is going. We want to sell the little car. I have to get her ready for showing.... April is sell car month! Sherry
Dear Shelia, Working on the studio will be very fun...lots of work but I know what I want...lots and lots of light! I have started a notebook. When I come across ideas I jot them down. So far I have, "lots of light and lots of outlets." I did read it is nice to have your outlets up so no cords on the floors for tripping... I think cabinets and work tables and I need a sink and.... I will have lots of show and tell as we progress. Sherry
Dear Pat, The spinning wheel is very beautiful...a wonderful piece for my livingroom...Having baskets of roving waiting for spinning also are beautiful. I love alpaca. It is soft and silky. A depression glass pink and green bowl filled with homespun yarn and a pair of knitting needles is a beautiful centerpiece...plus a great way to store some yarn! Fiber is fantastic! Sherry
Dear Mel, I will be posting studio updates! I am in the planning stages right now. I want my studio to be built with as many green products as I can find. We have a few building products that were salvaged.... Plus I want it to be extra beautiful.... I will be turning to you for support and encouragement! Hugs, Sherry
Dear Rose, Having a studio will be so very wonderful....I need the space, looms are big! I also want to do dyeing and felting and paper crafting and making hats and and..and...and! I am so happy you are learning to knit! I am looking forward to learning knitting as well. I would love to knit my homespun! I saw some beautiful wooden knitting needles when I bought my spinning wheel. I just might have to go get them...they were so lovely. Let me know how your knitting is going. Very fun. Yes! Sherry
Dear Cathy, I posted about the library as one idea for living a little bit greener. I know sometimes you get tired but the library needs you... Hugs, Sherry
Dear Vikki, I just love requesting books from the library. If I read a book I just have to have I look for it at the used book store. I read cookbooks sometimes just like they are novels. Sherry
Your fabric is lovely. Sherry, I think when you are happily spinning away in your new studio, you must charge admission. It's will be GRAND and so beautiful!
Dear Mary, Once my studio is finished I could have craft day! I could invite fiber folk and we could do fiber stuff and drink tea! I am very excited. Just thinking about the different things I will put in my studio is fun. I know I want lots and lots of light! Sherry
Your resource books are wonderful. I can just imagine how your head is spinning just trying to put together a perfect studio. I can't wait to see what you come up with. The fabric you chose for the curtains is beautiful. As you said..."light" is of great importance. Elbow room is too. Storage is a big factor.
I have that first book you posted. I just love it. It has great ideas.
There are lots of blogs done by weavers and spinners. You might go through them too. You would get some good ideas.
Dear Lisa, So glad you are back. I missed you! The studio is a big ....huge...project. Making sure I have plenty of room and light and proper storage...the wools need light and the paper needs dark....I have so many needs for all the different crafts I do. I already have my herb cabinet...I will be working on her this summer. My father built it for my Grandmother's kitchen in the early 1960's. It is a corner cabinet...you will see, I am sure it will be the subject of a post. I am looking forward to building the studio, so much better than remolding the kitchen! I have visited a couple of spinners and weavers blogs. I have not had the courage to comment! LOL! I am so shy about my work too. Not like photographs of the birds and bugs! I post those pictures with ease! Sherry
Always in Spring I have this "strange" feeling of renovating, decorating or learning new methods to do this. I am full of plans and ideas...and I also like to have a look in books giving me more inspiration. Your fabris is beautiful. Will you show us the result of your newly made studio?
Dear Barbara, I too want to re-do and redress the gardens this year! I WILL share studio as she is built. For now I am planning...I know I will need lots of light! Happy Spring, Sherry
