The birds are skittish but they want their seeds and suet.
A pair of White-breasted Nuthatches were brave and came to the deck.
The Chick-a-dees never seem to mind workers being about.
The light was soft and the breeze so light.
A cold front is coming in this evening.
Snow flurries are in the forecast.
We are a month from Spring.
I am counting the days.

I am counting the days too! Aren't those chickadees cute? They seem to hop around everywhere and don't mind who's doing what.
I am glad you had a good bird day with a bit of warmth and nice pics.
Hugs
They're so beautiful! I hope your weather gets better soon.
Beautiful photos! Our birds are eating as fast as they can...it's still cold here!
Beautemous birds! A warm day! Not here - was 28, but I'm sure spring will be here sometime...Glad your trip was such a success - the photos are wonderful!
Dear Sherry.....the light was indeed soft and to my eye perfect.....
the birds wait patiently....they know you will be there for them....
the Chickadee does remind me of our Great Tit......and your Robin is so different from our little chap.....interesting to see the differences......
Spring is only a heartbeat away.....it is sunny here today and around 12C....55F......
Have a great weekend....
Great pictures of your beautiful birds.
Spring would not be spring without bird songs.
Can't wait..because we are back to winter weather again. Snow and cold temperatures!
- Cheers Gisela.
Thank you for sharing your bird time with us, Sherry, and how delightful to see the daffodils starting to shoot up!
I have had a very busy week, and haven't had time to regularly read blogs. I will come back later to catch up on some of your previous posts. But I did see the mention of your friend and the wildfires in Australia. Did you see the video of the koala bear who was rescued? It's probably on YouTube now. Such a touching moment in the midst of tragedy.
Dear Wendy,
I am SO looking forward to going outside without bundling up!
A late winter Jicker came in last night. The wind just howled and it is cold once again.
Brrr....
Sherry
Dear Kanak,
Thank you!
I had heard about the cold front coming in and after errands I stopped at Cave Springs and checked on the little pond. Once home I put my items away and rather than inside chores I spent an hour on the deck with my bird friends. A good hour spent too.
Namaste,
Sherry
Dear Lavender Dreamer,
As winter draws to a close I think there is fewer and fewer berries and seeds for the birds. I think my birds eat more from the feeders now than in the dead of winter.
I do see them enjoying the fresh water I put out in the mornings too.
I posted on my Book Club about a couple of February books I am reading. One is a monthly guide to backyard bird feeding. The number one thing they write about is providing fresh water...
Spring will come soon!
Sherry
Dear Sue,
Thank you! I had a marvelous time in Texas! All of my trip things are finished. I framed a Green Jay photograph for the travel room. I am thinking about putting together a few Texas photographs for "The Bird Sings", the card company that has picked up my work. I think Green Jay would make a great looking card!
I am planning another trip! My husband and I are going to Portland, Oregon, in March. We will visit our daughter and son-not-in-law. It has been over a year since I have seen them! This will be a fun trip with a side adventure.
After that I have a shorty planned in May, a Tulip Festival! Than a Weaver's Conference in June!
I feel so much better than I did a year ago! LOL!
I cannot decide about slide shows. My husband misses them! I just might do them once a month....
Sherry
Dear Cheryl,
The light was perfect! My world had a water color wash about it.
The noise of the roofers kept the birds away until I came out. I think they trust me.
I did enjoy the warmth. Knowing it was going to get cold today helped me decide to be outside and soak up some sun.
Once Spring comes to my gardens I will be outside every minute...I have seeds to plant and butterflies and bees to say, "Hello" to!
I hope we can do Sunday Safari again....
I think we made through another winter.
Hugs,
Sherry
Dear Gisela,
I so agree...bird songs are all part of Spring!
I have heard the Robins and the Cardinals singing again. I think they are establishing territories.
With the huge numbers I fed this winter I think they will need to use the cemetery for nesting. I only have a few trees and hedges.
The morning chorus is only a few weeks away....
Bird songs and soon butterfly wings,
Sherry
Dear Rose,
It is just wonderful you were able to take care of your Grandchildren while their parents had Holiday.
Good for everyone!
Shelia sent the video of the family caring for the Koala. So cute. The fires in Victoria break my heart.
It is cold today...no deck sitting for me.
Sherry
Your Chickadee photo looks like a painting, Sherry. I think your Spring is very near! The snow will melt this week!
I'm catching up with you. Your posts are wonderful.
Hugs,
Mary
Sherry these images are delightful! Love the Robin with it's wings spread..great photo! I've yet to see a Robin here...we got the forcasted snow storm today...more tomorrow...in time for my getaway!! wink!
We look forward to spring too. Just one month is left...
Your birds are beautiful ) I liked Mr. Robin best of all.
Hello shery. I can't wait no longer for the spring! I'm also missing your buterflys...but i hae to admit: the pictures of the birds are a great consolation:-)
Send you a kiss.
Stunning photos and I make it through the winter knowing the warblers will return in the spring! So bring those warblers on!
It's great how you can observe personality and familiarity with your feathered friends. I am still thinking of how to attract some feathered friends to our yard - but location and space pose some limits.
Spring is slowing rolling our way!
Dear Mary,
Thank you. I do love the soft light. I had watercolor light yesterday too.
I am very excited....this week I learn to spin....I will be posting.
Sherry
Dear Anna,
I am so happy you are going to warmth! Being with your grandchildren will be nice too.
Be safe and have fun.
Bon voyage,
Sherry
Dear Aluajala,
Mr. Robin is so funny. Yesterday I took photographs of him eating his cranberries...he likes them.
Soon Spring will come and the flowers will bloom. The bees and the butterflies will return ....
I wait ever so patiently.
I heard bird songs yesterday....
Hugs,
Sherry
Dear Belen,
Thank you!
I picked up the seed potatoes and some lettuce seed this past weekend. As soon as the ground thaws a bit more we will prepare the spring veggie patch!
I am looking forward to butterflies too. The birds are wonderful. They keep my spirit light until the bees and the butterflies return!
Spring will come soon!
Sherry
Dear Tom,
Hope the warblers return soon for you. Very few come through my backyard.
Learning my warblers would be fun!
Sherry
Dear Chris,
I do get to know my birds and they me. It makes for fun photographs as each bird has it's own personality. We have lots of Cardinals and I know each one. They look a tiny bit different and each one acts a little bit different with me.
Many of the birds are like that.
I think if you put black oiled sunflower seed out in a feeder you will have birds....
Sherry
55 degrees sounds wonderful...ah, spring...soon.
Those are great shots! Chickadees are so sweet, and seem fearless.
i love mr robin's very verbal posture, he is sure letting you know something. probably annoyed with all the roofing noises.
all the birdies at your house are happy to have you as their friend despite your noisy neighbours. it will be over soon and then you can go about your normal sitting with the birds in quiet contemplation.
love the idea of making my own sprouts have done it by accident. i think i need a more thorough understanding of what you do. i read the soaking and rinsing part but are these dry beans? what do you have at the bottom, cloth? how long should you anticipate it taking? about how many beans 1/2 cup?
Dear Aerie-el,
It did feel wonderful!
I see we are to have another warm day on Wednesday...I will be outside if so.
The Chickadees are so cute. I do love the way they come to the feeder get their one little seed and go to the tree to crack it open.
Sherry
Dear Marmee,
This is a bean blend I am sprouting that I bought at my grocery store. I have a piece of cloth over the mouth of the jar for draining...you could use a screen if you have one.
It takes about a week until you have sprouts for eating. This is a cup of beans in an extra large canning jar...I think the ratio is one part seed to 4 parts water for soaking...
I am having sprouts tonight in my stir fry.
Do try some! Easy and tasty!
Sherry
AAaaaahhhhh. It is so good to be home. Even with the wind blowing cold and a bit of rain. I can snuggle in watch our own birds and read blogs for awhile.
It is fun to hear the birds singing in the predawn again.
Dear Lisa,
Welcome home!
I know what you mean about seeing your backyard birds. I missed mine when I was in Texas too. I loved seeing the birds that were new to me and exotic. I took over 2,000 photos..it took awhile, almost a week, for me to get the trip processed!
My birds are also beginning to twitter in the predawn...
Spring is near.
Sherry
