V is for Vultures.
While on vacation in the Lower Rio-Grande Valley
I saw the Black Vulture
for the first time.
Turkey Vultures are a common sight all over North America.
Crown Vetch grows by the road side.
Variegated Violets grow in my lawn.
The Viceroy butterfly mimics the Monarch.

Great photos...I love the first shot...I have not seen a black vulture...your close up of the black vulture is very good... and it make him seem "less ugly"...I really like these birds for some reason and I don't see them too much since I moved to the city...I also didn't know of the viceroy butterfly...I'll have to look it up..great V post...
We have turkey vultures in my area of northern IL. They remind me of a cross between a turkey and an eagle;) I had a pair nest in my deserted loft this spring. Very hard to photograph.

Whilst on safari once Mr P and I saw vultures....they were huge.....I just love them....nature's dustbin......
The vetch is lovely....I have put horseshoe vetch in my hanging baskets this year....lovley.

Sherry, you always come up with such interesting examples for the week's letter! Great shot of the vulture; I'm not too fond of them, but we have had turkey vultures visit us occasionally. I much prefer the visits of the viceroys:)

Verigated, very good. Many nice verigated varieties of plants. that extra bit of color really livens them up.

i just love turkey vultures and all vultures! am i strange or what? i have respect for them because they clean up messes nobody else wants to deal with. plus, they are so ugly, they are CUTE!!!
