The feast day of St. Michael.
A perfect September day.
My Red Admirals seem to like over-ripe fruit the best.
The Asters are loved
by the Eastern Tailed-blues.
These are in-between days for me,
I am ready.
The October House
is dressed.
I am excited.
I have my Spells all ready to cast.
I think spicy kisses
will be grand.
The Rain Lilies are still blooming.
The fish will need to be moved
to the deeper pond
for the winter.
It is time to bring in the plants
that will over winter indoors.
It is time to make up boo bags
and treat boxes for the kids.
I sat with the Dogwood this morning.
I wrote outside with the butterflies.
I will miss them when they are gone.
On Michaelmas
I remember to treasure each moment.
Soon the north wind will blow.
by the Eastern Tailed-blues.
These are in-between days for me,
it is the end of September
not yet October.
The October House
is dressed.
I am excited.
I have my Spells all ready to cast.
I have gathered my supplies.
will be grand.
Red Spotted Purple is fading gracefully.

Sherrie,
I am ready for October, too! Just wanted to tell you that earlier this summer I spotted a red spotted purple butterfly, and the only way I was able to identify it was referring to the beautiful pictures you have taken and shared with us! You take such wonderful photos - I especially love the butterfly and bird ones. I have even found a Buckeye at my sister in-law's house, and as I shrieked with joy, everyone else looked at me like I was crazy! Thanks so much for helping us to see the beauty in nature that is so often overlooked!

This post is simply enchanting Sherry. Fairies, butterflies and flowers. What could one want more? It is sort of sobering to think they will all go to sleep for the winter...soon.
Believe me, I am treasuring every moment, Q! Also, I wish I could fade as gracefully and beautifully as your butterflies.
Very sweet! Love your butterflies!
Excellent post and pictures. I too saw a butterfly on my walk today but it was a very rude one!
It wouldn't stop and let snap its picture.
Well couldn't blame it, bad storm moving up the coast. Probably looking for a safe place to ride out the storm.
Dear Sherry, this is a bittersweet post. We lose the butterflies and gain the hush that autumn often brings.
I have the image of October house in my mind. Such fun.
Spells are fun to....Poppi and I often cast a spell or two. All in the name of good, of course.
Collecting herbs and fruits for spells is so exciting when you are five.
I am so glad to see the butterflies in your pretty garden.
It is damp here......the sun hides from me and the garden. I saw a lone bee and a red admiral yesterday. The insect world is hidden away at the moment....a warm day may just bring out the bugs.
Hsppy nearly October to you and yours......
Such a lovely 'last day of September' post!
Happy writing ♥
I do love fairies, Sherry! As I read this, I could just imagine them flitting about your garden just as the butterflies do. They must inspire your writing as well. These days are precious--I keep reminding myself that winter is not far away.
Dear Sherry, thank you for the very welcome hug you sent on my blog :)
I have enjoyed this post very much and am thrilled to see you too love the 'Flower Fairies'.
So nice to see your butterflies, mine seem long gone, we have had a week of almost constant rain!
A lovely atmospheric post, Sherry.
Happy October...and sending a hug back to you :)
I just love the photo of the yellow butterfly in motion. Its wings look so silky!
