Sunday Safari

The Black Swallowtail caterpillar
 that had been inside,
 in the caterpillar habitat,
 emerged yesterday from her chrysalis.

We put her outside on the deck hoping she would be able to dry her wings before the rain came. When it began to rain hard we brought her inside. She spent the night on a bloom in the living room. This morning it was so chilly I was concerned for her. Finally the sun came out and I helped her outside to the butterfly bush.

Watching the caterpillars has been very fun.

The leaves on the Maple trees are starting to turn.
Autumn is here.

I will be out of pocket for a few days.

It is time for me to pack up September.

It is time to celebrate pumpkins
and orange mums.

We are embracing our inner
Mad Scientist.

We are in awe of the bugs.

We are learning.

The miniature pumpkins informed me
it is time to get the October journal out.

It is time to prepare and decorate.

It is time to mix up
some fun.

Happy Sunday safari.

Dear Sherry, how wonderful the black swallowtail emerged. Taking care of her was the right thing to do. I am sure she will find food and shelter in your garden.

I am so pleased I saw September decorations at your house.....the clowns are fun.
I look forward to October.....

I am sure you will be happy with the cooler temperatures. Autumn is in full swing here, and it is raining heavily. I have bought a rain guage. I am now excited to see how much rain we catch.
I shall keep a journal with the readings.

I hope you enjoy the path of the druid. I am sure you will find it interesting.......

Happy Sunday safari...

Dear Sherry, That first Swallowtail photo is to die for. But so is the rest of your offerings - thanks for reminding me that it is indeed Autumn.

It must have been unbelievable watching her emerge!

AAahhhh yes, the cooler weather has finally come in here too. It finally feels like autumn. I am sure your butterfly will know what to do. It had such a good beginning to its life being well cared for by you. Happy Sunday Safari.

She's beautiful Sherry, I'm glad you took good care of her.
The artwork by Worthington and the next one are wonderful. Love looking at old art pieces like that from magazines and such. I have some prints in my dining room by old calendar artists that I love.

What a lovely creature. Thanks so much for sharing her with us, Sherry.

We had a hard freeze last night and some snow yesterday. My guess is fall won't last long in these parts! ;)

How fun it must have been to see the swallowtail emerge from its chrysalis! Now I wish I had remembered to bring a few caterpillars in for my grandchildren to watch. We looked and looked in the garden for signs of a chrysalis, but could never find one.

Orange is usually not one of my favorite colors, but it's perfect for autumn! Now that cooler weather has finally arrived, I'm ready to go pumpkin-hunting.

such an interesting time you had with the butterfly, you have a caring heart. I love when trees are many colors at once and the cover of that science book is awesome! It feels as though you will love Autumn, each and every day.
