A rare sighting,
just a glimpse out the bedroom window,
There was ice in the brass leaves this morning.
just a glimpse out the bedroom window,
gave us 6 happiness points.
The pair of Yellow Shafted Flickers are
regular visitors.
The male is less skittish
than the female.
The Dogwood berries
are a tasty treat.
I fill them with bird seed each day.
We received a little more
than 2 inches of much needed rain.
Some of the mums are still in bloom.
The overnight frost was scattered.
The House Finches
and the Gold Finches
have returned to the feeders.
A hard freeze could come
any night now.
I am preparing for winter
by finding ways to use fabric scraps.
I will do piece work
when I sit with the birds this winter.
We went Cow-girling last night.
I tried on a pair of Cowgirl boots
and a Cowgirl hat.
I am shopping.
My little girl pink boots are just for
decoration.
I have been a moccasin girl
for many years.
Finding my inner Cowgirl
is taking me in many different directions.
I will keep looking for my style.
I am reading and learning about the
Wild West.
We are listening to Cowboy songs.
We are having fun
walking and talking
and dreaming.
We are packing our saddle bags.
We are going to the Cowgirl Museum
in Fort Worth, Texas.
I am listening to the echo
of the little Cowgirl
that could.
Happy Sunday Safari.

Sherry,
Wow on the Cedar Waxwings great photos! Nice assortment of bird eating the dogwood berries.
Oh my gosh, those bird photos are fantastic!! I especially love the shots of the Cedar Waxwings. They are one of my favorite birds. So elegant-looking.
Such special bird photos! I love the Cedar Waxwings and the House Finches. Also, I saw a woman with green tooled cowgirl boots this AM and thought of you. Unfortunately, moccasins are much more comfy, though I don't think they make quite the same statement! I also have the dragonfly door ornament and a butterfly knocker. One is on my front gate, one on the front door.
I love the Waxwings and remember the first time spotting them in our neighbourhood ...so exciting! The photo of you as a little cowgirl is absolutely adorable ♥
I would love to be putting on my mocs and heading to Texas...my favorite place to visit! Love the Cedar Waxwings! I hope we see them here in Florida again this year! Hugs! ♥
Sherry, Absolutely amazing bird photos - the flicker reminds me of one that visits us occasionally.
The event sounds like much fun. We used to go to cowboy poetry readings - there's a great one in Elko NV every year. My husband would have liked to have been born in the cowboy era - he used to pretend he was "Rex Benson" (a made up name). He reads classic Western fiction as well as non-fiction.
Dear Sherry, the birds are a blessing. Your gardens are a haven for them. Waxwings are extremely beautiful. They come to UK from afar during the winter, I have never seen them in the garden....one day.
Dogwoods are wonderful wildlife shrubs, an asset to any garden.
Love the pink boots.......such fun.
I know this style will suit you.....meeting you as given me such a connection. I look forward to hearing about your trip and seeing your purchases.
Have fun my friend. Safe journey.
Happy Sunday safari.
Such beautiful bird photos Sherry! There is so much excitement at the moment here in the UK over the annual arrival of our Bohemian Waxwings, there have been many sightings this year, unfortunately I have never seen one... but I live in hope :)
Your Flickers are the most remarkable looking birds, how I would love to see them but that is true of so many of your lovely birds.
Have fun at the museum, I am not sure if that pretty little girl in the photo is you but I just love those ringlets :)
How exciting to see the yellow-bellied sapsucker! I just put out some suet blocks, hoping the downy-headed woodpeckers will visit us soon.
Visiting the Cowgirl Museum sounds like so much fun. Is that last photo a picture of you, Sherry? How sweet--I have a similar photo of my son when he was little wearing his grandad's old shoes, just like the ones in the photo.
Dear Friends,
The last photograph is me all dressed up and raring to ride....I am about two years old.
We are having lots and lots of fun with Cowgirling.....
Made a pair of Cowgirl earrings last night. I am working on my Cowgirl charm bracelet.
I just need to find the right hat and boots. Fort Worth, Texas just might have the perfect ones. I kind of think I am a cowgirl poet.....with a bundle of herbs in her hat band.
Happy trails.
Sherry
You lucky little Cowgirl. What a cute picture. I think I had a similar outfit. They must have been popular back then. I am stunned by the photos of the Waxwings. Well, they are all good photos. But wow those waxwings.
