blew unseasonably warm temperatures
into our area.
We went to Cooley Lake wetlands
and watched the Eagles soar.
We watched them ride the wind.
This 1,348 acre conservation area is on
an ancient ox bow of the Missouri River.
It is the end of the season for the
Dragonflies
and butterflies.
Seeing the Buckeyes
We hiked for a couple of hours
in a wooded bluff just above the wetlands.
There are plenty of berries for the birds.
The Tufted Titmouse is a year-round resident.
The wetlands were full of ducks
and spent water lilies.
I brought home a seed pod for my pot-pouri bowl.
While walking on the levee we felt
the wind shift to the west.
The temperature began to drop.
We saw the migrating geese
when we walked back to the car.
We heard them honking as they flew south.
Today was an Indian Summer day.
Tonight is the Full Frost Moon.
We are going out of town for Thanksgiving.
I am packing a picnic basket.
We have Snow Geese to visit at
Squaw Creek National Wildlife refuge.
May you and yours have a blessed Thanksgiving.
Happy Sunday Safari.

Dear Sherry, such a lovely Safari! Those Eagles are so majestic and beautiful and the little Tufted Titmouse looks so pretty with the berry in its beak. I love to see the geese making their journey together.
I missed commenting on your Cow Girl post :( but see you had a wonderful time. I wonder if your boots are like the ones in the photo, they look very smart.
I hope you and yours have a Very Happy Thanksgiving Sherry :)
Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving as well! You are a gift that I am thankful for. Thank you for your lovely comment you left me.
So amazing to see beauty through your eyes of a warm world while mine is covered in snow.
Dear Sherry, wetlands are wonderful habitats. I love the water and reflection of the solitary tree.
Eagles are such beautiful birds, so majestic in flight.
I have seen buzzards locally....this is a first and I am very excited.
Geese are flying over the house each day. I love to hear their calls. Many will stay in the fields near to my home.
The moon was so very beautiful last night. My garden looked stunning flooded in moonlight. Stewart and I talked together and remembered our time on the bridge.
We do not celebrate thanksgiving here......every day I count my blessings. I have many.
May you and yours have a peaceful and happy time.....
The wetlands here aren't very wet this fall. It feels strange with everything so dry. Your photos are great. We saw a pair of adult eagles at their nest this weeekend. Probably wondering what sort of remodeling they will have to do for this year's brood. I hope you and yours have a great Thanksgiving too. Hugs.
We were on the search to see Eagles this weekend but we didn't see them! So lots of other interesting sights though that I'll post soon! Enjoy your week...and Happy Thanksgiving! ♥
We've been enjoying unseasonably warm weather too, with a cold front moving through today. How wonderful to see eagles soar! We used to watch them at Jordan Lake when we lived in Chapel Hill.
Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Sherry, I love all your photos, but the spent water lily and then the masses of flying geese just touched my heart today! Wonderful!!! Thank you!
Wishing you a Blessed Thanksgiving Sherry xo
Hi Sherry,
I always enjoy your photos, and today is no different. We used to live in Overland Park and I miss seeing the Tufted Titmouse birds - they are so cute.
Today my four year old son looked up in the sky and pointed out the migrating Sandhill Cranes - we could hear them before we could see them. Your picture of the geese reminded me of that! I am teaching him while he is young to notice the birds!
Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
