It is a gorgeous May Day.
The Eastern Kingbird came to the flowering Chinese Lilac.
The Kingbirds migrate from Central and South America.
The female Grosbeaks are here too.
I am so happy to see them.
We saw three males this afternoon.
The Baltimore Orioles come at the
same time the other birds arrive.
I think they travel together.
The Gray Catbird is shy.
He is a migrator too.
White Breasted Nuthatch
is a year round resident.
I think he is feeding little ones.
White-crowed Sparrow
is also here all year long.
Yet it is only in the Spring and Summer
they come to the deck for seed.
They migrate from Mexico.
The American Snout is also a migrator.
The song of May
is the song of Spring and Summer.
My favorite old poem.
I celebrate Fairies in May!
A female White Tailed Dragonfly rested in the
vegetable garden.
Dragonflies are Summer to me.
The lavender is blooming.
It is a month ahead of schedule.
It is May, spring and summer all at once.
I am looking for fireflies and Indigo Buntings.
I have already seen June Bugs!
Happy May Day.

Dear Sherry,
I read the poem....I know why you like it. We both believe that everything has a right to be free, live its life......
Your gardens are a treasure.
I love to see your visitors.....
I like the cat bird.....he is just so cute.
We had a sunny day yesterday but now we expect more rain.
The birds are struggling to feed their young. It is a very harsh Spring.
I love these poems Sherry. Thanks so much for sharing. Our Hawthorne trees are a white carpet right now. Happy May day. Happy Spring.
I love the poem, Sherry; the fairy reminds me of you with her reverence of nature and kindness towards all creatures. We need more fairies in this world!
A lovely celebration of May; Mother Nature celebrated the first of May here yesterday with quite a display of power--rainshowers and then a scary afternoon with tornadoes overhead. But the sun is shining today, and the garden is full of butterflies. Happy May!
A wonderful celebration of May Sherry. Lovely photos as always and what a joy to see the butterflies especially your beautiful Monarchs.
I was thrilled to see the photo of the picture of the fairy kissing the little mouse and the accompanying poem. I have a little (about 3 inches by 5) book which I treasure and has lived with me since childhood which contains that poem and picture and also has the picture on the front cover. It is called 'A Little Book of Rhymes New and Old containing poems collected and illustrated by Cicely Mary Barker. I love it as much now as I did then :-)
Thank you Sherry, a delightful post to brighten another miserable day here!
Happy, Happy May to you :-)
The Fairy poem stole my heart!!! I will have delight in it every time I think of it. :) I am a wee bit green over the Grosbeaks, Monarchs, and the White-Crowned Sparrow. Ooooh, they my heart to dance and sing with joy...
