Only one stalk survived. Maybe more will follow.
The Pine trees are candling, new growth.
The Snowball bush is blooming.
Again only a few flowers.
I am writing in the April journal; recapping the weather events and the birds and butterflies that came looking for food. Making notes for next year.
I am decorated for May. My new favorite month.
The pinks of April are tucked away and the blues for May are out.
Butterflies and Blue Birds are part of May's decor.
The linens are ironed and the window fans are humming.
It is May Day Eve.
Time for May Wine.
Time for May Baskets.
Tonight, the crystal bowl goes outside, to collect May Day dew.
We will raise the May Pole.
We will bring in the May.

Hello Q. Beautiful pics :-) I think we call the snowball bush 'Hydrangea'. I have blue ones in the garden but no flowers yet! I hope everything continues to come back to life :-)
Dear Chris,
Thank you for enjoying the pictures. The snowball Bush or Viburnum Opulus, is different from the Hydrangea. The Snowball gets very big, 10-12 feet, and has lovely berries in the winter. According to what I read, the Cedar Waxwings enjoy the berries in the Winter. I do hope it sets berries this year. Not very many blooms but some!
I also have great hopes that the plants will all come back!
Maybe Spring will pop back in after these last couple of Summer days. Crazy weather!

Hi there Aunt Q. Hydrangea is my favorite! I hope you get lots of blooms this season so I can enjoy them through your lovely photos.

Dear Q~
Happy Beltane!
May your Day be delightful!

My mother loved to grow lupin's. She would also put them in flower arrangements. My father had allergies and they would make him sneeze like mad...
I can still remember their peppery scent..!
I love that Snowball!! It's such an "old fashioned" plant. It reminds me of Granny's yard and happy springtimes.
Gorgeous photos!

Dear Laurie,
My hydrangeas look rather tired!
I do not know if they will bloom this year or not! I had a new plant for Easter and it is rather forlorn. I have been giving it a cup of weak coffee every so often, maybe it will perk up soon. I shall plant it in the garden this week and begin a coffee grind and egg shell mulch. The cold snap was hard on the hydrangeas all over the city.
I have an idea for a house warming gift!!
Aunt Q!
Dear Sprite,
Happy Beltane to you too! It is the grandest of times. I love the olde words and ways. Always I celebrate the rebirth of Mother Earth. This year we have twins!!
Blessings of rejuvenation to you and to Spring.
Sherry
Dear Sheila,
The Lupine do have a peppery scent! As a cut flower they do so well, lasting a week!
The memories of flowers and our dear ones are always so lovely to me. I bet you were tickled by the memory of your Father sneezing!

Dear Pat,
The Snowballs are large bushes and are so pretty. I keep peaking at the one in back thinking I will see butterflies or Hummingbirds!
White flowers are my favorite and are difficult for me to photograph. They are so bright that I have a tendancy to over expose most shots.
Thanks! I "worked" to take the Snowball photo.
