Shadow art

In October I do shadow art.

I put an art glass basket out
for the birds and for my art.

I noticed the Viceroy
and the Monarch

feeding together.

It is bright this afternoon.
An excellent day to do art.

I love shadow art pictures too Q. My son Alex took photography in High School, and in his last year, the assignment was "shadow art". One of my favourite pictures was the shadow of Ben & my husband as they walked down the street. The caption read "Me & My Shadow ... literally" :-}

On ABC World News Tonight with Charlie Gibson, they featured Monarch banding and the journey south. Awesome!

I have had some here but not as many as you have seen!

The glass basket shadow is perfect for October, it both looked spooky and like a butterfly at the same time. Or perhaps a sea creature? I like it. I enjoy looking at all the possibilities within it's dancing light. It's very cool.

I LOVE the photo's of the Monarchs and Viceroys feeding together.

Love,

Dear Nita,
I do shadow art! I so enjoy looking at them. October is the perfect month for inside shadows and outside! Outside the art changes as the sun moves across the sky. I love that!

Dear Deb,
Such a fond memory and I bet the photo is delightful.
I have been singing, "Me and My Shadow" ever since I read your comment!
Thank you! I feel so inspired.

Dear Cathy,
The basket is practicle art too! I filled it with water and the birds have another drinking spot. I like the way the shadows change not only with the sun but also with the water and the breeze.
Layered Shadow Art! I have another shadow art project to do today.
I see flowers and butterflies and swans, such fun!

Dear Mary,
My husband said he also saw that news item. He was visiting with his mother and she had the news on.
These are Monarch days in my gardens. I have seen three Viceroys too. Having the milkweed has been a bonus for Monarchs establishing a colony here. I will plant more next year.

Dear Mon@rch,
I was so thrilled to see both of them together. Easy to see the difference.

Dear Cat,
You did see my idea here! Thankyou!
Often I am very subtle with my posts.
I like the way shadows mimic! The basket had just enough orange in it to cast an orange shadow.
Today I am using mirrors.
I have lots of fun decorating for October.

Dear Sprite,
I also thought the basket and the shadow were just right for October. Having "spooky" during the day is a little bit tricky!
I like tricks AND treats!
BOO!
