Wondering

Today I am wondering,
"what will I do when the butterflies leave?"

I wonder this every October.
I have journals filled with my musings.
While I was wondering
Chick-a-dee came to the deck rail.

Chick-a-dee stayed for awhile.
Such a sweet little call.
Perhaps I will spend my afternoons with the birds
when the butterflies leave.

An excellent idea. :-)

See how Nature gives, when She takes away...

And I'm sorry that you are feeling a bit weary too. Maybe it is the process of the changing of the Seasons...

It's comforting to know that we aren't alone though. Thank you for letting me know that you're sharing this feeling. May we hold hands in Cyber, and walk out of it, together.

Hello, Sherry :-) I feel sure you will find something to spend your afternoons with :-) You see so many things that others don't and I'm sure your garden will never be empty :-) Enjoy the birds and look forward to butterflies next spring xx

Sherry, your Chickadee looks so sweet and soft...wouldn't you love to pet it? My favorite little bird!

Oh, you will find plenty to do when the butterflies leave.

Dear Mari-Nanci,
Oh yes! We shall walk out of the blues together. Even when I am melancholy I am joyful. I wake each morning excited to see what the day will bring. I never know what delights Mother Nature has in store.
As Autumn comes in I always know the growing season is almost over. The gardens rest and so do I. The end is really just a transition to the next generation,
seed to seed, butterfly to butterfly...
Winter is fun too when we share our stories.

Dear Chris,
I never know when I step out the door what I will see! Going native in the gardens did make for easier gardening this past year. I will keep working on my butterfly gardening too during the winter. I have research to do!
I do lose myself outside with the butterflies. It is so easy to forget just what it was I was going to do! If I remember correctly last winter I had the same experience with the birds!
I will miss the butterflies but I bet I will find all sorts of other Winter beauty to keep me smiling!
Hugs,
Sherry

Dear Mary,
Chick-a-dees are so cute!!
I will be filling feeders twice or three times a day and keeping the ice out of bird baths!
Plus I will help Mockingbird keep the Starlings and Grackles out of the seed. I also will have deer and squirrels to feed.
I best get another de-icer...

Sherry,

Maybe you could spend time in a cocoon and wait until you are ready to blossom out of it, just like the butterflies do. Winter is like that for me.

Have you finished your vacation journal and photo album yet?

I bet you will have plenty to do this winter, it just won't look the same. That's the hard part, huh?

Love you,

Dear Sprite,
Years ago I did hibernate in January and February. I cocooned.
After the kids were grown, my husband I did some traveling in the cold months. We went south. Last year I spent my winter outside with the birds and my new lens.
I do not know what adventure I will have in January and February this coming year. I am planning a trip in December to see my daughter and son-in-love. I am looking forward to that.
I still have my vacation scrapbook to do. I can do that when the cold winds blow.
I also can come to cyberspace and have lots of fun with you.
Mother Nature will provide beauty, I am sure of that. I will walk in her Winter. I will wear silk long underware and be warm and toasty!
I will celebrate the day.
