Hello Sherry......A lovely set of photographs for safari Sunday.....I particularly like the butterfly and wasp feeding together on the willow tree......I like the thought of sharing....
I am amazed that the butterflys are still mating.......when does migration begin?? how far will they travel???
I agree with Cheryl. The Viceroy and the wasp together are darling. My favorite. You should make a calendar or sell prints. I would buy them in an instant. Your pictures always help center me!
Dear Cheryl, My husband and I enjoy going bug hunting together on Sundays. We both have cameras and have so much fun! My husband took a fantastic series of photos of the wasp and the butterfly. He was working with a smaller lens too so really had to "work" to get these. The Monarchs will begin migrating from my area in late September early October. One more brood here and off they will go. As they travel south the females will continue to lay eggs. They travel all the way to Mexico, I am not sure how far 5,000 miles maybe? A far fly for a butterfly. Fun safari! Sherry
Dear Wendy, It is early, early Autumn here. Our first frost is never before October 15th and most often it is middle of November... The bugs have time for one more brood if they hurry. Some of the butterflies overwinter as pupas. I have a wood pile for them! Sherry
Oh yes, the transition is beginning. But I've come to terms with it.
Quite wise of me, since I can't do anything about the Seasons... How quickly they come or how quickly they go. Silly mortal. All I am to do is enjoy each day.
Dear Mari-Nanci, I rather enjoy the changing of the seasons. Summer to Autumn is one of my favorites! I love the cooler mornings. The colors are so lovely and the light once again is softer. I enjoy each nuance of the season. I see the apples are starting to ripen! Sherry

Lovely pics. I'm also amazed that the insects are still mating. Figured it was too close to cold weather and freezing temps.
