Watch out!

I was visiting with the Hummingbirds
when I heard the call of the Cicada.
One sting from the Wasp and the Cicada was paralyzed.

She flew straight towards me with her Cicada tucked under her body.
Amazing!

We both went back to our work.

One amazing Wasp.
The world of insects is awesome.

Dear Cheryl,
I do love the world of bugs! They do the most amazing things. I love the way they look, sort of scary!
This Cicada Killer Wasp is very scary since it is very large. I would not want this wasp mad at me.
Lots of Hummers now. I think both pairs were successful raising two babies. I had read the Hummingbird numbers were down. I hope the four that were raised here make it back next year.

Dear Pat,
Action shots!
I was snapping pictures when I knew I needed to get out of the way!
Now that the weather has cooled down I can be outside working in the gardens. I hope to keep my camera near by for more action bug shots.

Can you imagine working as hard as this wasp for dinner? Whew! It's so amazing that you got to enjoy humming-babies! I hope they make it back, too. Love, V.

Dear Vikki,
I bet the Cicada was a very fine supper too! There is a Cicada chorus now in the afternoon. It is tropical sounding and surreal.
The Hummingbirds are the flying jewels in the garden. I only have the Ruby Throated ones. On the West coast they have Rufus and Ruby Throated. I hope the Hummingbirds continue to thrive.

Dear Lisa,
The Cicada-killer Wasp was huge!
I bet he could have killed the Hummingbird...
My husband calls the Cicada-killer Wasp, "Ground Wasp". I am very respectful of them.
