The Monarchs are migrating.
I watched them in my backyard this afternoon.

Once my land was part of the Tall grass Prairie.

and crops grew where my mums now grow.
and built neighborhoods.
This sedium was here when I moved in 33 years ago.
Part of the Live Forevers are in the sun and part in the shade.The Katydid likes the sun!
I saved some seed for next year's garden.
The bees are still gathering pollen.They seem tired.
A Bee Mimic was in the orange mums.
The gardens are winding down.
The leaves are beginning to fall.
The berries in the Dogwood are ripe.

Your flowers are so clear! And the little bee (in the first pic) looks elegant. What an beautiful shot! Actually they are all nice, but the bee and the flowers are my favourite.
It's nice to stay home some days. October is around the corner!

Yes, the garden is definitely winding down. We had our first day of sun yesterday in a week, and I, too, watched Monarchs flying through the yard and garden--without my camera, of course:) I wondered if they might be finding their way south very soon. Hopefully, we'll still have a little more time to enjoy the creatures in the garden.
What fabulous finds in your own garden Sherry. Love that bee mimic photo. We saw a few monarchs while out birding yesterday. They looked so bright and just the right colors for fall.
I have not seen any monarchs this summer at all. I would love to see the migration!
The bees do seem tired, but they have been going at a furious pace for months now. I am leaving the borage till they are done with it, even though it looks pretty ragged now.

What a magical spot you have right in your own backyard! You have created a haven for butterflies, bees & bugs. We have a big patch of Cosmos still in bloom too ~ and lots of seeds for next year :-)
