Sunday Safari

October on the Tall Grass Prairie
is colorful.

The butterflies are still flying.

Prairie Asters provide nectar.

Orange Sulphurs dominated the Prairie today.
We did see one Buckeye.

The bees were out in abundance.

A few thistles still bloom.
Many Flower Beetles caught my eye.
Their black and orange dress is perfect for October.

Spiders are spinning and weaving.
Dragonflies still patrol.
It is cool in the mornings and warm in the afternoons.
Soon we will have frost.
The Mantis hunts for another couple of weeks.
Happy Sunday Safari.

What incredible shots of insects. That last one was amazing - that little guy looking right at me through the screen!

Wonderful safari pictures, Sherry! I don't think I've ever seen such a close-up of a mantis. I always thought they looked rather prehistoric, but this photo makes me think they look more like aliens:)

I always love your prairie shots and your insect shots are just amazing. I love the shot of the Buckeye and the green bee and I think the spider most of all! Such an amazing close-up look at its face.

Sherry,

Only been to the Tall Grass Prairie once and it was over 100 degrees. Love these shots, the Orange Sulphur is something.
I was out today canoeing and we saw 85 Monarchs migrating by.

What a marvelous collection of bees butterflies and bugs. Those beady little spider eyes are so cute to me. They are ever watchful.

Dear Sherry....the prairie is full of life......giving us hope for the bugs......
The white butterfly looks worn.........we must make the most of this time, spend time with the bugs we love.......

I love the mantis.....they always remind me of aliens......such amazing little creatures......

I do hope that you are receiving my email.....I sent two before holiday and one this weekend.....not a problem, just hope you are getting them...

It is good to be back......there is no place like home, is there?

Happy safari Sunday......

Sherry, these shots are wonderful! You always show so much detail!! I love the spider - she looks so soft! But my favourite is the mantis! Yes, she looks like an alien, but I have never been aware of all the colours she displays!!!

Your Praying Mantis photo is stunning. Your safaris are always such a pleasure to share.

It has turned quite chilly here, Autumn's grip is tightening!

Have a wonderful week :0

All the pictures are beautiful but I especially like the furry spider - and the Mantis is downright otherworldly!

Your pics are so clear. The spider looks frightening! And the mantis as if he's from another world.
The prairie is alive with colour - so pretty!
