We installed our Wind Sculpture this evening.
We had a brief ceremony welcoming her to the gardens.
It is an honor to have one of
Lyman Whitaker's kinetic art pieces
"gracefully capturing the spirit of the wind"
in my gardens.

I am tired this evening.
I stayed up too late with
the Full Green Corn Moon last night.
We walked as she rose and had a light,
late night dinner on the deck.
I took a few photographs of Eastern Tailed Blues
this afternoon. I counted eight in the mint.
When resting in the shadows they open their wings
and shimmer an amazing blue violet.
They are tiny but gorgeous.
The Black Swallowtail has been about.
I am watching the little egg she laid
turn into a fast growing caterpillar.
I have begun to plant mums.
These are so pretty, pale yellow with dark yellow centers.
I moved the mint that was growing in the window boxes
to a flowerbed and planted mums. I love having mums for
Autumn.
I bought enough to do up pots for the front porch and the deck.
I shall do a few for the house. I will have a few to give as gifts.
I plant mums for me.
The bugs do not like them.
They do not set seed for the birds.
I grow them for the beauty of their bloom.
I grow them for Autumn.
We are over a month away from the Autumn Equinox
yet I already feel the cooler nights and the turing of
the Seasons.
My husband said,
"Go get your magic seed basket."
He had spots ready to plant.
We planted all sorts of Autumn vegetables.
We still have at least 60 days left in this growing season
maybe even more if first frost is late.
Mother Nature provided .8 of gentle rain to water our seeds in.
My nightstand has a new book.
Happy Sunday Safari.

I cannot believe you have 60 frost-free days left! I'm trying hard not to be jealous. Our frost will come any night now. Your photos are wonderful - You see the small, magical aspects of Nature. Your new wind sculpture is perfect for the garden.
A stunning post. It crosses many lines and provides food for many days. The wind sculpture is absolutely superb.
Beautiful wind sculpture Sherry. I also like that wind harp you have. I would love to hear that some time. The wind blew through here last evening. It felt like autumn. Wonderful after these long hot days. The moon has kept me up these past few days. I will eventually sleep well. Looking forward to it actually. :) Even though butterflies like the heat I think they need more moisture than what we have been blessed with this summer. I don't think I have seen as many. It seems sort of dull around here. Happy Sunday Safari.
Love the wind sculpture and pictures of those beautiful butterflies.
Dear Sherry,
I to feel the changes....autumn is knocking at my door. It has been a very short summer here.
Your butterflies give me hope, maybe next year my garden will once again be full of these beauties.
The wind sculpture is very beautiful....I know you will love it for always :)
Sleep well......
Your wind sculpture is beautiful! I've never seen one before.
It must be fun planting autumn vegetables. I'd love that, but we don't have as long a growing season here.
Autumn is coming soon. I feel the cool nights and damp mornings. The light is beginning to change slowly too.
Your butterfly pics are gorgeous. I particularly love the swallowtail.
Happy sunday safari.
I love your new kinetic wind sculpture. I have a friend who made these, but stopped long ago. I should show him yours. Those little butterflies has such nice colors, don't they?
I always like your high level of variety.
BTW: I loved your idea of give my mystery sedge a nickname. That's what I'm going to do since I can't get a positive ID until Spring.

I was SO excited to see your beautiful new sculpture! I've SEEN his work here in Asheville! The new Biltmore park has some of his wind sculptures and I took a few photos awhile back! Here's a link to an article but I don't know if there are any good photos of them there. How exciting to have one! WOW! ♥
