You are right about it being butterfly days. It is hot and humid just the way they like it. Great photos Sherry. Like you we haven't seen so many Red spotted purples this summer. All that rain etc at the beginning of the summer then the drought just wasn't good for them. I hope you had a great weekend.

This one is tricky. You have a Variegated Fritillary, Euptoieta claudia there not a Tawny Emperor.

Delightful to see your butterflies.
They are exquisite and a joy to behold.
There have been so few here. The weather has not been kind to them
My marigolds have not done well....they do not like cool damp conditions, I have pulled them out.
I will have better luck next year and hopefully the butterflies will to :)
My marigolds are doing well too. It's their time of year to shine! I love your photos, especially of the butterfly "kissing" the marigold (in pic #4), or else the butterfly is sitting on the cup part of a cup and saucer (the cup and saucer is the marigold).
They really are superb pics, Sherry, bringing out the artist in you!
I haven't seen nearly as many butterflies this year as last. More dragonflies though.

Such a treat to see your lovely butterflies, Sherry! I am just now beginning to see a few more butterflies visiting here, including a few fritillaries, though I'm not sure which ones they are. I'm hoping more will arrive before the first frost hits us.
My daughter and I made it home last Wednesday night after the long journey from Portland. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to do much sightseeing other than from the car windows, but we saw many markers of the Oregon Trail along the way. I had to marvel once again at how strong and brave those early pioneers were to make this arduous trip in covered wagons.
Your butterfly photos are so sweet, Sherry! I finally had a visit from a Monarch a few days ago. I had about given up on seeing one this Summer. I do adore butterflies, and think of them as spirits of my loved ones that are on another plane now. :)
I was just thinking today that I've hardly seen any butterflies in my gardens this summer - so - I guess I'll just have to visit you. Wonderful captures of your flighty friends, Sherry.
