Sunday Safari

July came in hot and dry.

A Tiger Swallowtail
in the Tiger Lilies

made me smile.

The sunflowers continue to feed the bees.

In July I am honoring the Spirit
of Stones.

My desk mechanical pencil
rests on a stone.
The layers remind me of
my own layers.

I am working with stones.
I am reading
and listening.

My husband brought me a Hawk's feather.
It has a place of honor on the sideboard.

It is Dragon Sunday.
The first Sunday of the month.

The mint is in full bloom.

Another 100 degree day.
Another week of 100 plus degrees
forecasted.
No rain.

We celebrate Independence Day on the 4th.
I have my flags out decorating the house.

I think about Lady Liberty
and the hope she once gave.

We have a full month scheduled.

We have plans to watch the opening ceremonies
of the Summer Olympics.

The All Star Game comes to
Kansas City on the 10th.
We will listen to the game on the radio.

We have rocks to tumble and rain dances to dance.
Happy July. Stay safe. Stay hydrated.
Happy Sunday Safari.

I'm taking this attitude with the hot weather, each hot day that passes, is another day closer to Autumn :-)

Maybe by tomorrow night, I'll have some new poems posted.

It continues to rain here. Wish we could blend our weather a bit... Your post is beautiful, as always. Tumbling rocks is something I did as a child and totally enjoyed it!

Dear Sherry,

I shall look at my spell book today.....I shall gather herbs. I shall burn them in the inglenook, I hope it works and brings you rain. It will be fun to try.

Swallowtail is beautiful set against the Lily......bless the butterflies.

I love stones....my father is always bringing me stones, those that are a little unusual. I am a keeper of stones and feathers.

More rain expected this week....it starts today, they say it will end on Thursday.....I am hoping they are wrong.

Have a good week.....

I am happy to see your beautiful photos finally came up. So sorry you didn't get some of this rain. We have a lot of limbs to pick up. Are you in the mood for a game of pick-up sticks?? ;) I don't mind since it means we received much needed rain and we have no real damage. We were without electric for several hours. Keep cool and hydrated.

Stones are such an important element in Japanese gardens, it would be fun to learn more about them. I hope the rain dragons are listening and bring us both some rain; cooler temperatures would be most welcome, too. Happy studying, Sherry, and stay cool!

A Tiger Swallowtail on a Tiger Lily...just perfect! Such lovely, sunny photos Sherry. Your heat continues relentlessly as does our rain, the forecast for my area is no better for the next ten days at least!

I love to collect some of the feathers I find on my walks and keep them in a vase.

Your Sunflower is beautiful, she looks like she is giving me a cheery, side-tilted smile with her Lovely golden face and bee 'eyes' :-)

Happy July, Sherry. Stay cool and comfortable.

I like your comparison to stone layers - interesting analogy.
July is hot here too!
Orange is a good colour for butterflies and tiger lilies. Such a pretty pic. The sunflower too.
Stay cool
