You lucky thing to still have butterflies gracing your garden. I haven't seen a butterfly here for quite a few days. It hasn't been all that cold but not much blooming now.
I agree with Monarch - those are September butterflies. I guess they are hanging on to you...
I haven't seen many butterflies since last week. We are getting much cooler now. The fireplace is burning to keep the chill out. I refuse to turn the heat on. After all, it was near 90 last week :o/
OK that's it! I'm moving to Kansas so I can see these wings for as long as you have!! Amazing how many photos you have posted of gorgeous butterflies! YOU are queen of the butterflies dear heart!!hugs and smiles Anna xo
Dear Cathy, It is colder for you. My highs are in the 60-70's. Butterflies like sunny and in the 60's at least. My leaves are just beginning to fall. The grass is still green. I have not had 1st frost yet so lots of flowers for the butterflies! Sherry
Dear Lisa, Once frost comes I too will see few butterflies. I will put some fruit out on warm days for the fruit eaters. Autumn is lingering here. I love that. It can linger all the way to December. Sherry
Dear Mon@rch, I saw a Monarch yesterday! No photo. I was getting out of the car when he lifted off of a zinnia and flew southwest. I am wondering if I will see any butterflies in November?? Often after frost we have a week of warm up in mid to late November. We call it Indian Summer. I might see some of the over wintering butterflies at that time. Sherry
Dear Mary, I did turn the furnance on because the night time temps are dropping into the upper 30's. You had rain!!! I am so happy for you. Having lots of zinnias and marigolds does make a difference for the butterflies. These are heavy nectar flowers and the butterflies can stay in one area for a long time fueling up. Nice for the photographer too. Sherry
Dear Anna, You could come visit me! Your roses would miss you, dear Goddess of the Roses! I do like the butterflies. I think they know I am their friend. Let's see if any stay around after frost. I was looking at last year's photos and I did have a few butterflies in November. Let's hope this year some stay around. Butterfly wings, Sherry
Temperatures have dropped here. We arrived home last night from our "weekend away" to find that the night before we had our 1st frost. Enjoy your butterflies Sherry - they have picked the perfect garden to linger in :-}
Dear Deb, So hope you had a nice anniversary weekend! I will pop over and see if you have had a chance to post. I AM rather butterfly dependent. Sherry

Hmm, let's see. For me, it was in the 50s today and woke up to frost on the ground. About 70% of my leaves are now down.
