In Search of the Meadow Lark

We rode our bikes on Longview trail, 6 miles in search of a Meadow Lark. Did not see or hear one. We will have to go out into the country. I am planning a day trip for next weekend. We were treated to many butterflies. Seeing the Orange Sulpher with open wing was delightful.
The stands of thistles scattered along the trail afforded us with many sightings. The Monarchs are always so beautiful.
A smaller Hummingbird Moth than the one we saw at Powell Gardens. Different variety too.
If I can think of a place in our gardens for Thistle I shall grow some. The bugs do love it. It is my Wild Flower for September.
