Snow

I awoke before dawn.
I knew there would be snow on the ground.
I knew it would be bitterly cold.

I knew the birds would be hungry.

I knew the morning light would be divine.

I watched the sunrise.

Mockingbird sat with me.

That female cardinal is puffed up as big and round as the finial it is standing upon. Poor little thing. It must be cold.

We got a little snow but the cold front isn't here yet. It is due in here tonight.

Keep warm.

I find your photographs stunning!
I never get tired of looking at those beautiful birds.
We are having wind & rain, & our little friends are not about.
Thank goodness it is cooler though!

Dear Lisa,
It was very cold, 12 degrees!
Tomorrow night it is to drop to 7.
As long as we stay above zero I will not be too concerned for the perennials.
Hope you do not get the frigid cold we are having.
I am sitting by my space heater right now warming back up. I see the sun is shining so I just might scoot out for a few minutes while I still have some good light.
You stay warm too!

Sherry, your Cardinal photos are breathtaking. You have a wonderful view.

Dear Mary,
I do take pictures of other birds...really I do. Today I took at least a 1,000 photos! (Not all Cardinals!) I often wonder what will I ever do with all of the Cardinal photos I have taken.
I just think they are so pretty. I just took a series of Cardinals at sunset. Oh my! Lighting IS everything. The backgrounds turned out almost black and the female Cardinals just shine. I do like winter as long as the birds are about and there is great light.
I am having so much fun today.
Thank you, Mary. Taking the photos is one thing sharing them another. All together it is very, very fun.
Stay warm,
Pats to your girls and seed to your birds,
Sherry

Dear Meggie,
Thank you. I am so glad you do not tire of the Cardinals. I try to take the pictures of the other birds but there are so many Cardinals and each one of them is beautiful!
Thanks goodness for a cool down and some rain for you. You are approaching your Autumn time. I am looking towards Spring. I love the way our seasons are different.
Thank you for your kind words. I appriciate your support.

Sherri- I think these are some my favorites of your photos.

Dear Lynne,
Thank you. Having so many Cardinals to photograph means many photos! Getting the light to shine on the birds and creating a background that shows them off is tricky sometimes.
I enjoyed being outside in the sun and with the birds.

The morning light was, indeed, divine as are your photos.

Good Morning Marvin,
Brrr....It was zero degrees this morning when I went to feed the birds at 8:30 am...SO very cold. The morning light on Thursday was actually better than today.
Light is everything...I may have to get my filters out to take photos today as it is TOO bright.
There are hawks out now so the backyard is quiet. Good time for me to download photos and warm back up.
I keep looking for new to the yard birds. With this bitter cold Mother Nature's food is frozen.
