Warm up

The temperatures warmed to 61.3 degrees.

My husband and I sat out on the deck.
We took our shoes and socks off.
We each had a bowl of popcorn.
We shared a root beer.

We read our magazines.
We watched the snow melt.
We had fun in the January sun.

The birds came and went.
They did not mind two on the deck.

Like the Carolina Wrens, I was looking for bugs.
Maybe a Question Mark would come out
for some January sunshine.

Dear Sherry, I have a picture of the two of you in my mind :-) So much fun to sit out and eat popcorn in January in bare feet! LOL

Dear Chris,
We have a pair of steamer chairs on our deck with cushions. I sit in mine almost everyday. My husband seldom gets to in the winter since he is at work from before dawn and until after sunset!
After we did our morning chores we had the afternoon to relax. I really enjoyed this time with him. So much better than a cruise, no airports or strange bed to mess with. Lots of pretty birds!
Fun can be so simple. Watching the snow melt was one of the highlights.

What a fun afternoon! You are experiencing very different weather than we are Sherry :-} Winter boots, hats scarves and mitts are still necessary heading outside. Did you share your popcorn with the birds :-}

Dear Deb,
This is just a teaser, a promise of spring! Cold air is on its way tomorrow afternoon.
I did share a couple pieces of popcorn...I know it is not "good" for them but a few pieces...
I will be back bundled up out with the birds on Tuesday.
Stay warm Deb, you have had much cold.

Ah to have a 60s day again. Well I reach in upper 40s and was able to take a walk today. Was wonderful to be able to just get out for awhile.

We aren't getting quite that warm, but the ice/snow is falling of roof edges. And some melting is happening. It gives hope, doesn't it?

And you certainly are having fun, already. :-))))

Hi Sherry. It sounds like you had a good time outside today. It was 64 here today. We were traveling home today. It was nice to be able to open some windows for awhile. Let the stale air out...

We had similar weather today, Sherry! T-shirt weather. But I didn't sit on the deck in bare feet. I wore a coat and made chicken soup - warding off a very bad cold.

So you were looking for a question mark...I hope you see one this week.

Lovely bird photos - as usual.

Hugs to you,
Mary

Dear Cathy,
40's sound good too. Four days ago it was 5! One more morning of warmth and the wind shifts, cold air and rain/snow for this afternoon and evening.
I always do enjoy whenever we have a brief warm up in January. I have not been able to get back into my daily walk but I will!
My body misses it.

Dear Mari-Nanci,
I am having lots and lots of fun!
This first week of January has been just delightful.
It is a "hopeful" sign when the snow melts from the roof tops.
Instead of seed catologs this year I will be poking around in my "native plant" store. They have all sorts of flowers I have never grown that I know the butterflies will enjoy. Just thinking about the return of the Hummingbirds and butterflies is fun!

Dear Mary,
I hope your cold goes away very soon! Chicken noodle soup is always excellent. Warmer temperatures will make it easier too.
I had wished the Red Breasted Nuthatch would sit for a second longer so I could get a decent photo. I am pleased to see them. The Nuthatches are new to my backyard and I am always delighted whenever I see them.
Lots of water and rest, dear friend.
I think the Question Marks and Eastern Commas are still sleeping. Clouds this morning and wind so my chance to see one may be over until the next warm up! Oh well!
Hugs and wellness coming to you,
Sherry

Dear Lisa,
You also had the nice warm up! Just a quick break here. It is wonderful to open the windows and be outside without all the heavy bundle up.
Back to Winter this afternoon.
LOL!

I love seeing your bird pics. We dont have many visitors, & the wretched Mynah birds are screeching horrible creatures. We do have some native Shrikes, but they are very hard to photograph, & are very dull looking birds. They do amuse us though, & they have become quite bold with us now, swooping over our heads, under the Pergola!
Luckily we have not been 'struck' as yet!

No butterflies here either, but I did see a grasshopper just as the air was starting to turn cold again.

Love the wren photo.

Dear Meggie,
I would love to see a picture of your Mynah birds. They are not in my back yard. I bet your birds are all very different. How interesting!
I would not want to be "struck" either.
Looking forward to reading more about your gardens and wild life.
It is a pleasure getting to know you.

Good Morning Marvin,
I think we are back to regular January weather for a few days here. That means cold!
I do see some blue skies so maybe I will be able to walk later. I miss my daily walks.
I also miss the butterflies. Grasshoppers are fun in January.
The Carolina Wren is so cheerful.
Big song for such a tiny bird!
Stay warm,
Sherry
