Joy!

I took my morning tray outside to have breakfast with the birds.

Much to my delight a male Blue Bird flew in.

He began to build a nest in the wind harp.

Such a joy!

I have waited for many years
to have a Blue Bird nest in my back yard!

I was on the side of the deck where the Nuthatch's nuts are while welcoming the Blue Bird.
Mr. Nuthatch was most upset with me! I had to move. He wanted his nuts!

I turned to walk back to my chair and my breakfast
when I heard a familiar call.
The female Baltimore Oriole had returned.
She was trying out the grape jelly.
I started to cry.
She remembered me.

There is a wind advisory until this evening.

The female Northern Cardinal came to share breakfast with me.

We often eat together.

This morning her mate came for seed giving.

These two are the sweetest pair.

We finished our breakfast together.

When I gathered up my tray I heard another familiar call.

The male Baltimore Oriole had come to the Ash tree.

I am filled with joy!

Oh how glorius these gorgeous winged creatures. I watch some of the same kinds on our back deck where we keep food for them. Don't have any blue birds though. Lots of cardinals, doves, blue jays, finch, thrashers, robins, chickadees, and ever a woodpecker. The hummingbirds are just now arriving.

Dearest Sherry......how charming, the bluebird building a nest in the wind harp.....this is most lovely....

Mr and Mrs Cardinal are indeed a lovely pair. It must be amazing to watch him feed her.

I can understand your tears.....sometimes I feel a fool, when something moves me to tears......when I went to the forest the butterflies drifting by was so magical, there were so many of them........my tears flowed. Mr P understands......

Have a wonderful weekend with the birds bees and butterflies.......

What wonderful colourful birds you have in your part of the world, Sherry - and what lovely photos you take of them!

I did like your baby spiders the other day too - I would also have postponed mowing, or at least have moved them carefully out of the way.

Whoo hooo... You have B Orioles already. I will have to get out this weekend to see if they are here. We had our first Hummingbird today. It is 85 here this afternoon. UGH... Where went spring??

Sherry, I love the photos of the bluebird!! Mostly I see the boxes for them, but I have never seen one of the birds! I am so happy for you!!
And you are so lucky to have the cardinals settle close to you! It is so sweet that he feeds her!

Husband knows exactly what you mean about the spiderlings - he catches all the spiders in the house, and puts them outside, if the weather is suitable, rather than killing them!

Oh Sherry! I am so happy for you!! Today was a lucky day - bluebirds, orioles, and a cardinal couple! I am glad your birds came to visit and eat breakfast with you. Your patience has paid off, waiting for the bluebirds to build their nest in your yard. Yippeee!

I drove up to Ottawa to help my son and his wife move into their first home. I took care of Adrian, their little boy, so they could put up his crib and organize some of the house. I took Adrian in his stroller and went for a walk. There were so many birds in this neighbourhood! When we got home and were sitting in the kitchen, we looked out the window and saw a beautiful bright red cardinal sitting in a tree, come to welcome my son and his family into their new home.

Such a joyful day for all!

Amazing pictures! I am so excited for you that all of those beautiful birds have graced you. I have just started trying to attract birds and haven't seen too much of a variety yet. I'm assuming that the more food varieties I put out, the more bird varieties I'll see!

Sherry, this post is so appropriately titled! I keep thinking of the bluebird of happiness... You must have been elated to see both a bluebird and a Baltimore Oriole; they're such beautiful birds.
I don't have anything quite that colorful, but I do have cardinals and love to watch them. The couples act so loving toward each other. I hope you have a lovely weekend!

what a lovely picture of "joy" with your bluebirds building their nest. our bluebirds are so sweet to watch...they care for each other so beautifully. they work as a team in sync. we tried last year to attract the orioles without any showing up but we are trying again this year/so happy you have this beauty in your area.
the cardinals look so well matched feeding each other. nature is grand.
