Butterflies are beautiful - but this zebra swallowtail is the most beautiful I have ever seen.

Dear Chris,
I had never seen the Zebra Swallowtail before this afternoon.
I have been reading about them. I did get my Paw-paw bush/tree planted which is a host plant for the caterpillars. My bush is rather small and I was hoping I would see a Zebra. I was so excited when I saw this one fly in! Plus it found nectar so fingers crossed it comes back!
There is one more Swallowtail that I could maybe attract, it is called the two Tailed Swallowtail.
It also is very lovely.
We will see. I am a little bit east for them. But I read they are expanding their range as more people plant Ash Trees for shade.
Ash Trees are their host plant! I have a very nice sized Ash in the back yard. I planted Mexican Sunflowers which are their favorite nectar plant.
I do love the Swallowtails.

Dear Pat,
The Zebra does have a bit of blue and red! I think they are remarkable.
The Swallowtails are know as true butterflies.
I have seen 30 different varieties of all butterflies now in the month of July! There are only 7 Swallowtails that are in my area according to the range maps I have seen six of them this July! Plus males and females.
I am in Swallowtail heaven.
On butterfly wings,
Sherry

Dear Mary C.,
I also think the Zebra is beautiful.
I cried when I saw him.
I had wished to see a Zebra.
Now to see if I can plant enough Paw-paw bushes to set up a nice colony!

Dear Sprite,
Gardening for the butterflies is rewarding! I am just learning how to set up a butterfly habitat.
I still need my wood pile for the butterflies that hibernate. Lots of other host plants too.
Very fun!
Seeing Zebra even when my Paw-paw bush is so tiny reassured me! The butterflies will find me as I grow their favorite foods.
This Swallowtail is lovely.
Wishes do come come true.

Hi Mon@rch,
Yes they are!
I had only seen pictures of them until yesterday. Zebra did not stay very long but my husband says she will be back.
I hope so!
