Out for breakfast
We rode our bicycles up the street to have breakfast.
It was still early, before the humidity was too high for me to ride,
before the butterflies were nectaring.
We live on the highest point in our county.
We see the city scape as we ride the ten minutes to breakfast.
The Killdeer are upland shore birds that do not live near the shore.
They nest in the green way next to the highway.
I would support a no mow policy and fields of native wildflowers.
The Juvenile has one neck band.
The nest are only slight depressions in a gravel area.

Hope breakfast was wonderful. Killdeer are the funniest birds!
Hi Jayne,
I did not know the Killdeer were nesting so close to my house. I was so excited when we rode through the parking lot on the way home from breakfast and saw them!
They are funny and so pretty.
Breakfast was good.
Bike ride was enjoyable. (a wee way to reduce our carbon footprint)
Killdeer was best!

Oh look! Your bicycles are hugging!
hehe

Dear Sprite,
The bikes must have learned to tuck in from my husband. He and I are spooners!
We have been riding together now for 35 years. Our first bikes were 10 speed street bikes. They ar ein the basement. Our new bikes are cross bikes. Very light weight and so easy to ride.
I do like bicycling but I get tired.
When we go to the B&B in Victoria they have bikes for us to ride. I need to ride now so I am in better shape for birding and butterflying in Canada! I am excited about our trip.
Fun,fun,fun!

Killdeer are weird. Period. But I like them. I saw a juvenile the other day but I couldn't pull over fast enough!
Breakfast and bikes. What a wonderful life!
Love you
Mary
Dear Mary,
This is the first time I have been this close to them. I enjoyed seeing them. Very pretty birds.
If I could ever leave my house I would move to a small town where I had bike lanes. I would love to be able to ride my bike to the post office and on errands.
For the big stuff there is the UPS guy.
