Wildlife in a parking lot

An Orange Sulphur flew in
while I was watching the Killdeer.
The wild clovers are a nectar source.
A tiny butterfly fluttered about.
I do not know it's name.
Much smaller than the Sulphurs.
I can not find this jewel in my butterfly book.

The Killdeer made many warning calls.
The Scissor-tailed Flycatcher flew in.
He perched on the overhead line.
I think he wanted to see what all the noise was about!

I let Flycatcher know I had water close by if needed.
The rain went north last night.
I am watering the new plants and the freshly planted seeds.

Butterfly and flycatcher museum. The only wildlife I've seen in a parking lot are house sparrows and seaguls. :o/

Dear Mary,
This was a very fun deserted parking lot! The grass area made for all sorts of good bugs! The Killdee and Flycatcher were a surprise.
I posted a photo of the city scape hoping you will begin to get a better picture of what the area I live in looks like. It is the eastern edge of the city so no industry. The interstate that wraps around the city is about a mile away. I live in an older neighborhood, my house was built in the 1950's. Two of the houses are from the 1890's. One is the original farm house that was built when this area was country farmland.
Lots of older growth trees and two nice sized "wooded" areas are close by.
I like sea gulls.
I do see inland gulls every now and again.

Hi Ron,
I have seen a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher one other time here. They are common in the countryside.
Here in the city I do not think they are common.
I was surprised and pleased to see him!
Sherry, who has lots of flies for Flycatcher to catch in her backyard

Is that butterfly part of the fritillary family? Hard to tell at that angle, but that is a guess.

Hi Ron,
This was a very tiny butterfly,
maybe 1/2 inch across. I thought a Northern Metalmark perhaps.
The size shows well on the clover leaf.
I did not write it down as such yet.
Thanks for the idea. I will check the fritillaries again.
