Harvesting Basil

Scattered frost is in the forecast..

Needed rain is on the way.

At day break I went out to harvest basil.

I removed the leaves from the stems and washed them, spun dried and put them in a jar. The blooms went into vases.

I chopped up the leaves and covered them with olive oil. I store my basil in the refrigerator. Bouquets of basil blossoms are my house scent today.

Next I will go pick all the green tomatoes. Those go into brown paper bags to ripen. This would be an early frost for us. Maybe it will scatter elsewhere.
