Common Checkered-Skipper

I emptied my weeding basket.

The Common Checkered-Skipper flew in.
I took a break from weeding.
The Common Checkered-Skipper is tiny, only 3/4 of an inch from wing tip to wing tip.
I have not seen this butterfly since last November.

Hi Mon@rch,
They are so pretty. Tiny Skippers too. I liked the way this one opened her wings. Normally the Skippers are closed up.

I've never seen such beauties. Just wonderful. And such wonderful photos!

The blue part looks like tiny almost-feathers. But not feathers. Just amazing.

Dear Mari-Nanci,
These are very charming butterflies. So tiny too.
The body hairs are "feather-ish".
The gardens are so full of butterflies right now it is hard for me to get any work done.

Gorgeous!

I love that they look furry feathery.

Since you had not seen them since last November, do you think they are migrating from the north?

Dear Sprite,
I do not know if this darling migrates or not. They are all over the US so I do not know...
The ways of the butterflies are mysterious to me.
