Evening Monarchs?

The sun was setting.

I thought the Monarchs looked different.
Mon@rch let me know these are not
Monarchs,
messengers of Autumn.
These are Viceroy Butterflies.
Thank you, Tom, for letting me know.
I am so pleased to have the Viceroy.
I am so pleased to learn.

Dear Mon@rch!
Thank you!!!
I thought it looked different!!
It was so late and when I downloaded I thought what a strange looking Monarch.
It is the first time a Viceroy has been in my yard! Wow!
Thanks again,
Sherry

Hi Sherry...I didn't know what they are, I just know they are beautiful!

Loved the apple photos! They simply say fall. We're to have cooler temps, later this week. Hope it puts me in a good fall mood!

Hi Jayne,
When I first posted I named the butterflies "Monarchs". Tom was so kind to let me know these are Viceroys. I quickly edited the post.
I had seen Viceroys last Summer when I went to the Prairie Wetland Center to get Paw-paw bushes. Last night tho I was confused. Thank goodness Tom let me know!
Another butterfly for my September book!

Dear Deb,
They are really lovely! Smaller than the Monarch but just as brilliant.
They fooled me. Bet they fool the birds too. Good mimics.

Dear Mary,
I want to do a post of Viceroy and Monarch just so we can tell them apart easily. I have lots of Monarch photos. Maybe a butterfly id blog would be a good idea. I could use it for my id work too.

Dear Pat,
Apples and Monarchs are so Autumnish. Now I will add "Viceroy" to the list of Autumn motifs.
Cooler temps and sweaters are also Autumn. Let us hope soon!
