Butterfly wings

The Painted Ladies returned today.
I had not seen them since June.
They were with the Pearl Crescents,
the Swallowtails and the Monarchs.
The Gray Hairstreaks also returned.
I had not seen them since last October.
They were with the Eastern Tailed-blues.

Butterflies in all sizes and colors grace my gardens.

I am in awe.

Hi Mon@rch,
I was very happy to see the Painted Ladies again. The Gray Hairstreaks are so tiny!! My butterfly book says there are over 400 different species of butterflies in my area. I am far from 400!

Hi Kate,
The Pearl Crescents are very charming. Not too skittish either.
Thank you.
I do love the butterflies...

Dear Mary,
I do have lots of butterflies in the yard each day!
They come and go. Watching them is just a delight.
The stands of zinnias have been a great nectar source. They like lots of flowers. Over seeding the Day Lilies with zinnia seed works every year.
