Autumn

Venus was watching,
in the eastern morning sky,
when the Lady of the Harvest
opened her cloak.
In the whisper of the leaves,
I heard her voice,
"This is the story of the standing stones.
Listen to the ancient ones.
Listen to the trees.

Listen to the Dragonflies.

Listen to the breeze."

Hello, Autumn.
Tell me your story.
I am listening.

Love the second pic, Sherry, with the sun shining on the leaves. Brilliant.

Dear Chris,
Thank you! I did not take the camera outside until after sunrise this morning. I wanted to just relax and say, "Hello" to Autumn.
Happy Autumn.

Love your photos! Nice words, too, Sherry. Autumn is the most colorful season and I wish it were here. LOL!

As a child, I was never fond of Autumn. With it came back to school, homework, cold days, early nightfall, and a prelude to Winter.

Winter was good! Christmas and Snow Days!

Dear Chris,
Autumn is a photgraphers dream season! The light and the colors and the cooler temperatures just make the days so enjoyable.

Dear Sheila,
For many years Autumn was my favorite season. A couple of years ago I was smitten by Spring. Since that time Spring has become my favorite. When I was a child Summer was my favorite and as a young adult I loved Winter. I think I just love them all. Autumn has a special place in my heart. I am always tired of the heat and humidity of Summer. When Autumn comes I can spend so much more time outside and feel comfortable.
It is beautiful too with all the changing leaves.

Dear Deb,
Thank you. Autumn seems to be about the leaves. I used to do all sorts of leaf things. Now I am content to take pictures of them.

Dear Mary,
You get an A+ for endurance! Summer was really hard on you. Your Spring was like ours too; too early and then the freeze that killed so many plants. Hopefully you will get a break and Autumn will be lovely and wet!
When I think of rain I think of you and how badly you need it.

Dear Sherry,

Happy Autumn Girlfriend! I'm in heaven. I just adore the weather and the rustling of the leaves (soon to come I hope.)

Your essay is so lovely, and the photos are remarkable. I love each and every picture for the story you told.

I'm listening too.

I had the pleasure of being with some standing stones in the Highlands of Scotland. Their name is 'The Balnuaran Cairns of Clava.' I experienced them in the Autumn of 2002. It was perhaps one of the most magical moments of my life. The stones do tell a story, a very ancient one. I still think about them, and the beautifully colored leaves on the ground all around them that day. It was like being in a sanctuary, and being compelled to whisper or be silent.

I did both.

Much Love and Many Blessings for the Autumnal Equinox,
