A different camera

While on holiday my camera was bumped, rather severely.
A lens broke and the actual camera body now has issues.
I replaced the broken lens. My old camera body is no longer made.
I bought a different model.
Today I am trying out the new camera body.
It seems fine.
I see that this new body has fewer bells and whistles.
When I use the telephoto lens I have to do manual settings.
No beeps, no blinks, I have to be a photographer.
I am going to learn manual settings.

Dear Sherry
Is it possible that your photos are even more spectacular?!
I think you & your new camera are a good fit ~ these pictures are absolutely gorgeous!

Wow, your pictures are amazing! Apparently you don't need all the bells and whistles.

The new camera seems to be fine, but finally it is the photographer (you) who makes the good pictures!!

Dear Deb,
Oh, thank you. I was concerned.
I hope I can still get the quick bird photos I so enjoy with me doing all the settings. I did learn how to hold the camera and the telephoto lens (without moving)and focus at the same time.
I think I will be okay with the new camrea.

Dear Laurie,
When I started the photography I was not sure I would be able to do it! I had always had birds and butterflies about and I really did want to take pictures of them. Once I found the right digital camera and lens I depended on the camera seeing what I see. Now I must tell the camera to focus here and I want this amount of light and all of the techno aspects that go into taking a photo. I moved from point and shot to "photography". I am glad the easy for me camera has issues. I now will learn the basics of photography.

Dear Barbara,
I do think "seeing" the photo is first but also having the knowledge of how the camera works is important. With my old camera I just put on a lens and went for the photo. Now I will be composing and focusing! No auto focus with the telephoto lens. After a few tries I found I was doing fine.
Having Nature provide all the beautiful subjects is the best.
My son tells me the largest room in the house is the room for improvement. Hopefully I will always be able to improve.
Thanks so much for your kind support. There is so much to learn...

Dear Mari-Nanci,
I just wasn't sure I would bond with the new camera body! I really liked my old camera. I spend lots of hours taking photos. The new camera is very similiar and I think I will get used to it. It is lighter and quieter, I like that.
If I can still take sharp, crisp photos of the birds and the butterflies than I am happy.
So far, so good!

Dear Mary,
Oh dear the heat has gotten you! Zip-zap-zip, heat be gone from Mary's gardens! (I am reading Harry Potter).
I don't think I will ever be Master but I will try for Mistress!
Cool and sweet air is on its way to you.

Dear Nita,
Yes, this is a Hummingbird Moth. It is called a Clearwing Moth. It is in the Hummingbird Moth family.
I am glad the photos brighten your day. I think of you often and hope you are finding smiles and hugs.

Dear Sue,
Thank you! Blush, blush..
I am beginning to feel like a photographer. I have to think now! Mother Nature provides the beautiful subjects so that part is easy! I am learning. I am grateful I was able to replace my dear, broken camera.
I can still use her for some shots.

Dear Cathy,
I bought a Nikon D-40 and replaced the broken 55x-200x lens. I was using a Nikon D-50. Not too many differences. I do not have auto focus when I put the 200x-500x lens on. It's the lens I use most of the time. I am learning how to hold the camera and lens and focus at the same time. I am doing this hand held so I have the mobility to move about with out a tripod or a monopod.
I was pleased with my work here.
Glad you liked them too.

Dear Sherry,

Ahhhhhhhhh! BeauTiful! You have become one with your new camera and nature in the same day.

You are an absolutely amazing photographer. Your ways are so lovely and so pleasing to the eye and the senses. Knowing that the eyes are the windows to the soul, imgagine how many souls you have touched by now...

These photos show that you have really understood the process that you have been learning and mastering.

I'm so thrilled for you - for your photographic art.

Every day I am more inspired by you my precious friend!

Love you,

Dear Sprite,
Your words bring tears to my eyes.... Thank you for honoring me!
Thank you for seeing me. Sometimes I feel invisible.
It is my wish for others to see the beauty of the Natural World. If others see how beautiful it is in their own backyard maybe they will care for the flora and fauna.
The birds and butterflies need us!
They need us not to continue to take their homes and their food!
Bonding with the new camera is coming along just fine. I am looking forward to the day when I do not have to think so much and I just intuitively know what to do for each photo I want to take. I am learning. I trust myself more.
Thank you dear friend.
I bow to you.
