New to my feeders!
Just one male came to the feeders this morning.
So far in May I have seen 42 different species of birds either in the yard or flying over the house.
Backyard birding is fun!

42 different species! Wow - how fantastic. This is the first year that we have also had the red-winged blackbird in our garden. We always see them along the highways but, like you, this is the first year they have been to our feeders.
Wow! your yard is obviously the in place to dine, for our feathered friends. I've seen these birds around marshes and water, but never at a feeder.

I think for a small back yard I am doing really well. There are over 400 species in my area but I most likely will not be able to have all of those come to the feeders! Some are water fowl and my ponds are way to small for them!
I am wondering, since you are seeing Red Wings too if maybe the food supply out in the wild is not enough?
It is nice to see and hear them but I am somewhat concerned. I heard more dirt digging machines today so more habitat is being distroyed. So sad.

I do seem to have the 24 hour, all you can eat, hot spot!
I also have seen them at the water's edges, usually where the cattails grow. At our son's house, in the country, I watched a family of Red Wings at his pond. They were beautiful.
Seeing one at my house was a thrill. I was so close too as the feeding station is right off the deck. I was about 6 feet from this rather shy bird. I think he was hungry. I saw him again this afternoon.
It is fun yet as I was telling Deb, a concern for me.

You are certainly getting a variety! I like the red-winged blackbirds. They are loud but are very sharing and sociable here. They are very common wherever I have lived.
