Your pics are great as always, Sherry. I love the hummingbird moth. I think we do have a species here but I have never seen one :-) and the swallow tails are just incredible. I look forward to more butterflies :-)
Dear Chris, I saw the Tiger Swallowtail flying around the backyard today but I never saw it land. Maybe tomorrow! I am looking for more butterflies too. The Buckeyes are my husband's favorite. I hope to see them soon. There are lots of other Butterflies I have never seen and I am working on my "plan" for increasing my host and nectar plants so manybe next year they will find me! Little bit by little bit I will one day have a bird and butterfly sanctuary and comfortable spots for me to sit and watch them. Sherry
Beautiful! How do you do it? I now realize that purple cone flowers is something I am missing in my garden this year. And Black Swallowtails like to lay their eggs in parsley? I'll have to keep that in mind for next spring. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Mary C, Do plant parsley now so the Swallowtails can lay eggs for next years brood! It is a bi-annual and I plant some seeds everyyear so I always have some. Also the cone flowers are perennials so very easy! I think lots of butterflies and the Goldfinches like the cone flowers. I have room for more! Sherry
