Widow Skimmer

I was looking for an Eastern Comma butterfly
when I saw the Widow Skimmer fly in.
I watched him land on an onion stalk.

I had watched these dragonflies at Powell Gardens last Saturday.
Today I watched the Widow Skimmer
in my own backyard.
I hope he liked my gardens.

More beautiful photos..!
The 'question mark', the 'comma'...butterflies named for punctuation..and they all deserve an exclamation mark..!! (or two)

Dear Naturegirl,
I would love to fly like a Hummer!
That would be so fun, forward and backward and upside down!
I do love the bugs. They are so fascinating. Tonight as I watched the fireflies I thought about your comment. To be a Fairy would be nice too.
Soul Sisters!! YES!
Kindred Spirits that's us.
How is Mr. Bumbles? I have not seen him for a long time.
Hugs and blessings,
Sherry

Dear Sheila,
I like to go outside and take the camera and see what it is I can see.
It is so interesting to me how a butterfly or a plant gets its name. There are the Latin names but we know our plants and our bugs by simple "folk" names. I like those names the best.
They do deserve !! LOL

Dear Mary,
I never know when I go out with my camera what I will see!
The way Blogger has me posting I can only do four photos at a time. Often I end up with three or four posts a day. When I download if there is something I just have to share I do a quick post.
I usually take a few hundred photos everyday. I make a slide show for my husband every afternoon so he can see what I saw during the day while he was at work.
Life is busy with birds and blooms and bugs. Most of the time whatever comes into the yard and I am able to get a photo is just serendipitous.
All of your comments are so kind!
I appreciate every word you type.
Knowing you come inspires me to post!

Dragonflies seem to be a common theme in so many blogs lately! I will have to be on the lookout and see what I can find in my yard. Beautiful photos Sherry.

Hi Jayne,
I enjoy the Dragonflies and the Damsels. I have two small garden ponds and usually will have a few Blue Dashers through the summer. Now that I am working on identifing the Dragonflies I think I am very aware. Like the birds and butterflies the Dragonflies and Damsels are beautiful.
Hope you enjoy the ones in your backyard too.
