Cedar Waxwings

A flock of Cedar Waxwings came to the back pond.

This is a female.

The males have the red waxy tips on their wings.

They are elegant.
Oh joy!

Thank you for your nice comment on my blog...and again for your exquisite photography and words. Lovely spot. KC, MO is my birthplace although, admittedly, that came about many years ago. :) I'll come back to see your wonderful site.

A flock of them came into our old Apple Tree... when still cold in coming Spring one year. Ate the left over apples, and left.. :-)

Hello Tumblewords,
I have been enjoying your poetry and photos. It is nice to read how others view the world and to see the flora and fauna in thier area. Hope to see you again soon.

Hi Mari-Nanci,
Hope your snow stopped!
I have read about the Waxwings. I had never seen them before! Always exciting to see new birds. I read they will eat the old fruit on the ground in the late winter and early spring when the Juniper berries are gone. I think I can buy Juniper berries! If so a new feeder will be in the making.
How fun you were able to see them in your old apple tree. After seeing three last week and not getting any photos I was very excited yesterday to be able to get a few good pictures. I keep looking and listening today in case they come back.
I am waiting on the Baltimore Orioles now. Hope they stop by.

Dear Sprite,
Oh my goodness! I am so very pleased to have the Waxwings come.
Seeing them two days in a row is very nice. I hope they like it here and will stay. I think there are Junipers in the cemetary. I can provide water and fruit and maybe Juniper berries when their supply runs low! I think they are beautiful!
Ahhhh....
Mother Nature is always giving such sweet gifts.
