Debate

I am not 100% sure our Hawk is the Cooper's Hawk. He could be the Sharp-Shinned Hawk.
The difference is in size and the tail feathers.
Sharp Skinned is smaller.
Sharp Shinned has squared off tail feathers. Even this close I still cannot tell.

Whatever type of bird he may be, one thing is for sure...he is magnifique!

Hi French Nest,
Oh he is wonderful! My husband thinks he is Cooper's Hawk. I hope so, I call him Mr. Cooper.
I keep going back to the bird guide books and trying to make sure.
I know Mr. Cooper is after the song birds, which I love, yet whenever he comes in, my heart just beats so fast. It is exciting to have him on the deck. I wish he went after Starlings.
Having a hawk as a regular visitor does mean I have a balanced ecosystem. I like that.
