We are home from our adventure to theI hold the memory of the coolness of Yellowstone and
the beauty of the Mountain Blue birds.
It rained 15 inches while we were gone.
The gardens are thriving.
Volunteers are as tall as the sunflowers.
The Bee Balm is just beginning to bloom.
Many juveniles are coming to the feeders.
We are walking at dusk when the temperatures drop
and the fireflies fly.
We are getting back into our routine.
It is summer.
Happy Sunday Safari.
Welcome home Sherry. It is difficult to imagine wearing a jacket it is so darned hot here. Beautiful photos. I can't wait to see/hear more about your trip. Puffins look like little flying footballs to me.
So jealous of you puffins! Sounds like a wonderful time you and the family had.
We just got back from 3 days camping in the higher WV mtns it was just right and not hot (upper 90s today here). Come check out all the dragonflies I got photos of.
Dear Sherry....welcome home. Being with our children is just the best.
The blue bird is so beautiful.....what a wonderful colour. They look so very tropical to me.
Puffins are wonderful birds. The clowns of the bird world. We do have them on some of our coast line. Sadly numbers are dropping due to the decrease in sandeels.
It is very hot today, we reached
29C (89F). The lack of rain is a worry. The lawn is dry and cracks are appearing here and there. I would like lots of rain.......
Happy Sunday safari....
Thank you! I am happy to be home even though it is so very hot and humid. I have lots of work to do but it is too darn hot outside!
I am posting about our adventure on "Q's Holiday". We did have an amazing time. Puffins are very cool! I will post more about our time at Haystack Rock when I get to that portion of the trip.
Looking forward to catching up with you.
I am looking forward to seeing all your butterflies and dragonflies. I will pop over. Thank you for the id and information on my last post concerning the Summer Azure butterfly. Always learning! I need more books.
One of these days I will come east and see your beautiful mountains.
Stay cool! It is so very hot at my house too. Keeping the bird baths filled is the best way I know of to help the birds. We have had too much rain. Some areas of the Missouri River are at flood stage. I am ok as I live on high ground.
I printed the two Mountain Blue Bird photos and will frame them for our travel room. I have lots of trip photos that turned out nice but the Blue Birds just spoke to me.
The Puffins were so fun! They were far away in the ocean on Haystack Rock, their nesting site. The wind was fierce too. I was happy to get a few flying shots. The sand was blowing so hard I was concerned for the camera lens!
I am happy to be home.
Happy to be where my heart is. I guess I am just a prairie girl!
I'm reading down my blogroll while taking breaks from my housework. I enjoyed seeing your vacation photos, and what you came home to. Those birds look like they were posing nicely because they missed you.
Welcome Home! It sounds as though you had a wonderful trip. That first bluebird looks a little perturbed with you. I love the Echinacea photo. Happy weeding!
Great photos...and the puffins are so unusual! Amazing! Love the delicate blue in the bluebirds, too! ♥
Welcome home, Sherry! I'm sure the garden must have looked very different when you arrived home--all this rain has made everything grow so quickly, especially the weeds. I'm sure the birds were happy to see you return, too. But I'm so glad you had so much time to spend with your family. Technology makes it so much easier these days to stay in touch, but it's still not the same as being able to hug someone or see their smile in person. My Portland daughter is coming home in 4 weeks, and I can't wait.
Hope you'll share some puffin photos with us when you have time.
Being someplace cools sounds wonderful after terribly hot week we had here. 15 inches of rain, wow!!!
Your birds look wonderful.
Sherry, Thank you for sharing your great photos - the bluebird is so blue, it's almost embarrassing. Now that you're home where it's hot and humid, you can conjure up the memory of that cool coastal breeze!
Welcome back, Sherry!
I'm sure your birds are pleased to see you home.
Your blue bird photos are just stunning - wow - I would love some memories like that to hold too. And some cooler weather!
Welcome back! Your pics are perfect. I love the blue of the bluebird and the blue skies. I'd love to see real live puffins one day.
I'm glad you had fun with your children. Family is so special.
Glad you had a good trip!! I love that sunflower!
Welcome home, Sherry! Glad you had a good trip - family is the best! Hope you missed a bit of the rain that fell in the NW. There have been so few sunny days and only 2 or so with any heat attached. My feet are still winter cold. :) Beautiful photos, as always.
Welcome back! What an exciting and beautiful trip you had, but I'm sure you are glad to be back home too :) Missed your posts! -Tammy
