I am not 100% sure our Hawk is the Cooper's Hawk. He could be the Sharp-Shinned Hawk. The difference is in size and the tail feathers. Sharp Skinned is smaller. Sharp Shinned has squared off tail feathers. Even this close I still cannot tell.
Hi French Nest, Oh he is wonderful! My husband thinks he is Cooper's Hawk. I hope so, I call him Mr. Cooper. I keep going back to the bird guide books and trying to make sure. I know Mr. Cooper is after the song birds, which I love, yet whenever he comes in, my heart just beats so fast. It is exciting to have him on the deck. I wish he went after Starlings. Having a hawk as a regular visitor does mean I have a balanced ecosystem. I like that. ~Q~ ~Q~
