July

July came in hot and humid.

Perfect zucchini weather.

I picked our first of the season.

Lots of butterflies.
The Red-spotted Purple likes the orange slices
I put out for the Orioles.

The Cardinals perched in the shade most of the day.

It is fairly warm here too today. I was so lovin' that cooler weather we had the past couple of days.

I wish something would come to orange slices in our garden. They just sit there and curl up in the heat.

We have our second nest of Cardinals going now. They are too high in a tree for a decent picture this time. I will have to wait until the young fledge then maybe I will get a picture.

Dear Lisa,
We also had the cooler, drier air the last of June. It was beautiful. Now the heat is on!
I saw a Baltimore Oriole the other day on the wire. He did not go for jelly or orange slices. I was thinking he came to say, "goodbye" until next year. Now that it is heating up I think maybe he was going on north? I wish I knew more about the life of all the birds that come to visit. I read and read and read some more. You know so much about them! All I do is put platters of food out and take pictures!
Our Cardinals are also nesting again. The little ones are very cute!
Happy July,
Sherry
