Green Monday

I am outside as much as possible.

I am planting in the gardens.
I am enjoying Spring!

I bought a very large pot of French Fringed Lavender for the deck.
It is a zone 9 plant and not hardy for me.
I have already found the perfect place for this large pot to over winter.
I shall move it into the corner window in my bedroom.
It is a continuous blooming lavender. I shall sleep well when the snows fly.

I also bought a Fern Leaf Lavender.
It is also known as an Egyptian Lavender.
Another exotic lavender for me and a zone 9 plant.
It will come in and scent the living room next winter.

Four Fuchsia hanging baskets are decorating my north walk and porch.
Again I have spots for these plants come next winter.
These plants are not native to my area but I can enjoy them all summer

and bring them in next Autumn. I have very little room so I do have to be mindful.

I am making my winter growing plans now.

The wind blew a few blooms off the Fuchsia by the office window.
I did a mini arrangement for my desk.
The scent is amazing!

I love the light of Spring!

I love the songs of Spring!

The apple tree is in bloom.

The bees are busy.

It is a joy to be outside with the bees.

I am busy as a bee too!

Crazy for the pansy

I am crazy for pansies.

My window boxes are full of dancing Pansies!

As long as the temperatures stay cool the pansies will flourish.

I did up a gourd to take to my friend.

While I was working Chipping Sparrow came near.

The cool temperatures have kept the

daffodils and the tulips in bloom.

I am enjoying this cool, wet Spring.

The tulips will close up at night and open during the day.

The violets are also in bloom.

I am Spring time girl.

Pansies on Parade

I potted up a few pansies for the house.

I think they are lovely.

Green Monday

All day long I am making choices.

I make thousands each day.
Perhaps even millions.

This morning as I prepare to run my errands
I am aware of my choices.

I choose to carry a stainless steel water bottle.
I filled it with my filtered water and added a lemon.

I choose cloth napkins over paper.

I plan my route.
I need to stop at the market
and the library.

It is raining again.

I will wear my yellow slicker.

I will do puddle jumping!
I choose my attitude.
I choose what I eat and what I grow.
I choose what businesses I support.

My choices make a difference.

Rainy Easter

An old wives tale,

"If it rains on Easter it will rain on the next six Sundays."

I will wait and see!

The pansies enjoyed the shower!

Savoring

I am savoring each moment of Spring.

I am drinking in her sweet nectar.

I am holding her songs in my heart.

I am enjoying the return of the birds and the bees.

I am rejoicing.

The details of Spring enchant me.

The smells of Spring

and her colors

inspire me to be the best I can be.

Happy Easter!

Passover

The full Pink Moon will rise tonight.
It is cloudy at my house.
I may not see her.

Cloudy days give a soft light to the landscape.

The Brown Thrasher returned yesterday.

He will call a mate in.
They will nest and raise their young.

There is a Rooster near the walking trail my
husband and I walk on in the evenings.

I admired the blue flowers in the woods

today when I went walking.

I wonder if they are blue bells?

Green Monday

In April
I celebrate the bee.

A skep makes a wonderful cover for cheese or cinnamon rolls!

A bee night light chases the dark.

A spoonful of honey

is so delicious in my tea.

I read about the wonders of green tea!
I also read our bodies cannot absorb the antioxidants without citrus.
Lemon in my tea please!

For the last few years I have followed
the colony collapse disorder our honey bees have faced.
This article reminds us of what we can do as gardenrs to help the Honey Bee.
"What can we do? First, avoid using pesticides."
I have never used pesticides. But what about my neighbors? I just saw a chemical lawn spraying truck drive down my street. I think the chemicals are a health hazard.
Killing dandelions is killing a food source for our bees. I also think the run off is polluting our waterways. Perhaps I need to speak up. Perhaps I am too subtle. Perhaps I need to do more.

I bought a dozen organic pears at the market.
They have a few life spots. They are delicious.

At dusk my husband and I went for our evening walk.
We watched a bat hunt bugs over the pond. I stamped my calender, first bat of the season!
Last night on the news there was a report that thousands of bats are dying.
I watched PBS's Nature program. It was about all the frogs that are dying, millions!
It is sad, so very, very sad.

The Okinawa Holly bonsai bloomed this morning.
I felt great joy when I watered her.
She needs a haircut!

The darling bee things in my house are delightful.

I smile when I see them.

I need to stir up more bee awareness.

I need to take some action.
