First Footing

First footing is a grand tradition.
The first creatures to step into Corner in 2009
are a pair of exotic butterflies.

Perhaps 2009 will be filled
with exotic adventures.

I have lots of photographs to process.
Safari was thrilling;
the butterflies fantastic.

We hiked in a forest.
A bitter wind blew from the north.
A juvenile Red Headed Woodpecker
entertained me for twenty minutes.
I forgot to be cold.

I only knew the sound of the trees and the birds.
I was in the now.
I was in joy.

2009,
the year of
Joy.

I love your Heliconius butterflies. You have hierax in the first and sara in the second. The third butterfly is my favorite... Parthenos sylvia ! funny how so many butterflies are named for women! Sorry I accidentally deleted my previous post... was trying to edit my overly excited typos.

Dear Marmee,
This was a small butterfly house yet I was able to spend over two hours being with the butterflies. I do love them all. I already miss them!
It was very cold outside and so warm with the butterflies. It WAS magical. I also spent over two hours in the aquarium. I have fallen head over heels in love with the creatures of the sea. Oh my goodness they are incredible.

We have declared,
"2009 the year of JOY!"
Looking forward to sharing adventures with you.
Sherry

Dear Mimi,
Thank you for the butterfly ids!
I did not know their names only that they were so very lovely.
I also was smitten with Parthenos Sylvia. She is very beautiful. She liked the yellow fancy flowers. I loved the back lighting on her.
I want to come see you and your butterflies! I will need to plan a Winter get away....
Thank you again for naming the butterflies...
JOY!
Sherry

Dear Cheryl,
The butterflies are magical. I miss them so very much each winter. This butterfly house is only 3 hours away. I can go a couple times each winter when I feel lonely for the butterflies.
It is a new conservatory.
The forest was very wonderful. I enjoyed the birds. The wind was really too sharp and too strong to enjoy it. I do love the feel of the wind on my face but this one was icy...
2009 the year of JOY...
It is so!
Joyful days for you and yours,
Sherry

And I like the first butterfly - the one with both red and white in its wings.
