Mardi Gras

It is Carnival!

We danced in the living room.

Our Mambo
made me laugh!

We fixed red beans and rice
for our mid-day meal.

It has been a fun day just
listening to music and dancing.

The music of the Bayou
calls me to sway.

Dance nourishes my soul.

The history of Carnival is very interesting.

I begin Spring cleaning tomorrow.

It is a ritual for me.

I will clean each room,
each drawer and closet.

The snow lays on the frozen ground but I know
Spring is coming.

The daylight lingers a wee bit longer each day.
I look forward to hanging the sheets out on the line.
It has been a long winter.
Happy Mardi Gras.

Hi Q,
I'm sure the skiers are all wearing beads up on the ski hill - a tradition for Mardi Gras. (Also throwing panties and bras off the lift onto a pine tree high on the Mt!) Perhaps if you clean, you'll tempt spring to visit. I don't think it's coming here for awhile!

Hi Sherry,
I started my spring cleaning two weeks ago. It has not been a ritual with me. I worked for over 10 years as a janitor, and my house never got thoroughly clean. But I have made it around the living room! It is so much better to have the grime gone! Next is my little office; it will take a while, there is a lot of stuff to sort through.
Good for you that you do it every year!

I've never experienced the festival of Mardi Gras.
Now Miss Q. when you are finished cleaning your house just scoot on over here!
Spring is coming as I heard my first Robin..singing this a.m.!!!

Aren't you the inspiration. I should start cleaning too. Happy Mardi Gras to you too. I wore my purple today.

Sherry, I'll start "Spring" cleaning after I, I mean "we," finish stripping the dining room table!

I guess "Fat Tuesday" is always the day before Ash Wednesday. Celebrations are so important - can we celebrate while we Spring Clean???

What an amazing collection of books you have. Thank you for sharing! Laugh and love and dance - nice way to spend Mardi Gras. Oh, and that history is so interesting. I had no idea Mardi Gras originated in Europe - long before New Orleans came into being.

I too long to hang washing on the clothesline. It smells so good when dried in the fresh air and sunshine.

Happy cleaning!

Sherry, what a smart woman you are to finish your spring cleaning before it's warm and the outdoor world beckons. I can't wait to hang up clothes on the line either!
