Field Sparrow

I am smitten.

The Field Sparrow is very charming.

So far I have only seen one.

He has the sweetest of songs.

It is opening day!

We are listening to the game on the radio.

This is a sound of summer for me.

I put some grapes out for the birds.
Morning thundershowers
reminded me of rainy day poems.

I read them outloud
to myself.
E.E. Cummings is my favorite poet.
I just want to go puddle jumping!
I too love the rain.

I like poetry, but I LOVE the birds! What a fantistic little field sparrow...you call it a "HE", which he may be (need to check my field guide), but it really looks like a "she" to me...not because of the markings but of the eyes and sweet look on her face...really looks feminine to me! How wonderful! The gentlemen visiting the grapes are quite happy too. What a wonderful, peaceful post!

Sherry,
Great photos of the Field Sparrow, hard to get close to. Their call reminds me of someone dropping a ping pong ball on a table.

Amazing - I think I can hear the sparrow singing from your photos. Spring rain is the best, I think.

Field Sparrows sound like ping pong balls bouncing. At least that is how their song is sometimes described. Pretty little sparrows. Love the poems too.

I love all the birds who visit my garden. We also get the cheeky sparrows.

Dear Sherry.....very sweet poetry. I read out loud....it is good to do this.

The field sparrow is very pretty.....I do so love it when the birds sing.

This may sound a silly question but do all birds eat grapes? It is one thing I have never put out for them......I have a small grape vine and they have never taken the fruit from it.....

You are so sweet to the birds! I love your photos! Did you go see the cranes? My sister did, and sent some awesome photos to me.

Happy Spring!
