Sunday Safari

 Today is Valentine's Day.

Today is Luna New Year.
It is the year of the Metal Tiger.

Backyard Bird Count has been these past three days.

It has been busy in my backyard.

A snow squall came through this afternoon.

The sun came out for a moment.
I have counted thirty different species in the backyard
this February.

I heard a different call.
I looked out the window.

I think the Pine Siskins have returned!

I call February's New Moon the "New Cardinal Moon".
Over 45 Cardinals were in my backyard at one time yesterday.

The Mourning Doves clean up the seed on the ground.

Their numbers are down from last year.

It is cold outside so I am inside.
I am taking a journey.

Rumi fills my heart with love.

We are watching the Olympics.

The first modern Olympic games were held in 1896
in Athens.

The handbill,
from the 1900 games that were held in Paris,
is charming.

May you have a very Happy Valentine's Day.
May you stay safe. May you stay warm.
Be full of hope.
Spring is coming soon.
Let the games begin!

Hello

The wind was calm.
I sat outside with the birds.

The male Red-bellied Woodpecker came to the suet cake.

He is alert to danger.

Mocking bird has returned.
I am so happy to see him.

The Chick-a-dees are so quick.
They grab a seed and fly away to crack it open.

The Tufted Titmice also grab a seed and fly away.

The sun was out this afternoon.
I needed the fresh air and vitamin D.
We went for a long winter walk.

I am counting the days until the bees return.

Sunday Safari

We stayed home today.
Light snow showers kept us inside.

The Red Wing Blackbird came to the feeders.

I seldom see him.
He is a countryside bird not a city bird.

Snow showers bring lots of birds to the feeders.

The squirrels also come onto the deck for nuts.
I long ago quit chasing them away.

Our outing this weekend was Friday night.

We watched the Lion Dance.
Liang Patti performed an amazing acrobat program.

My books are entertaining me.

I am learning about healing baths.

I am making my cosmetics.

There are many ways to enjoy these end of Winter days.

It is my husband's birthday.

We are going to bake cookies this evening.
Happy Sunday safari.

Second Spring

Everything changes.

I am new to the Tarot.

My morning card pleased me.
It is a wheel. I love the symbol of the wheel.
The reading told me all my plans have the green light.
"Move ahead," it says.
We stayed up late last night watching "The Thief of Bagdad."

Such an amazing movie.

The special effects in 1924 were very well done.
Flying carpets are always amazing in any era.

We have been getting movies from the library.

We have been checking out different music.
We have been reading.
Lots of reading.

I am in the second Spring of my life.
I have learned how to wait.
I have learned snow melts.
I just learned cinnamon is good for brain fog.
Cinnamon-honey tea is so delicious.

Imbolc

Imbolc is a cross quarter day.
I am doing research.

This free e-card was on the internet.
                                                          Celebrations begin at sunset.

It is also St. Brigid's Day.
I am learning about this day's history
                                                            and how it is celebrated.

                                                          Some call today Candlemas.
                                                             I will celebrate tomorrow.
For some this is the begining of Spring
                                                               but not at my house.

A few years ago I did a study on frankincense.
I was interested in learning about its history.
I bought a sampler of different frankincese.

This morning I set up an incense burner.

I put my turkish slippers on.

I lit my candles

and took a magic carpet ride.

I am on the cusp of a snow storm.
                                                                     Happy February!
