Field Sparrow

I am smitten.

The Field Sparrow is very charming.

So far I have only seen one.

He has the sweetest of songs.

It is opening day!

We are listening to the game on the radio.

This is a sound of summer for me.

I put some grapes out for the birds.
Morning thundershowers
reminded me of rainy day poems.

I read them outloud
to myself.
E.E. Cummings is my favorite poet.
I just want to go puddle jumping!
I too love the rain.

Sunday Safari

I sat in the grass with the bees
and munched on sweet Peppermint.

It is a warm Easter Sunday, 80 degrees,
with a strong breeze out of the Southwest.
Storms are in the forecast for tomorrow.
Our Easter traditions have changed over the years.

We no longer hunt eggs

nor do we eat chocolate bunnies.

The birds sing our alleluia chorus.

Our rituals are inclusive.
We see the beauty in all creatures.

My childhood faithway taught me how
to live a compassionate life.

As an adult I have learned to be a good steward.
I feel the joy of seeing a new species in my backyard.

I honor that which came before me.
I am grateful for shared experiences.

The lilacs are in bud.

We celebrate new beginnings.

The roses are leafing.

Happy Easter!

Hello

The Brown Thrasher has returned.
His song is enchanting.

Harris Sparrow has also joined the
Spring backyard bird family.

Morning showers gave way
to a sunny afternoon.

The Dogwood buds are swelling.

We worked in the garden at first light.
We wanted to plant the flax seed before the rains came.

I am so very excited to be growing flax.
I am keeping a Flax journal.

This is a native to my area plant.
I have done lots of research on how to grow flax
and how to prepare the plant fiber for spinning into linen thread.
Thundershowers caught us
just as we were putting up the tools.

I practice the Kaizen Way,
one step at a time to achieve my goals.

Next I will be getting my dyer's garden planted.
I want to dye my flax fiber.

It has been ten years since I hugged a Redwood.

I long to smell the Redwood Forest.

They are ancient trees
that grow far away from my house.

Our children live on the West Coast.
I long to hug them.
We are planning a road trip for the month of June.
We are planning time for hugging.

I read puffins are nesting on Haystack Rock.
I would love to meet a Puffin.
There are many wetlands to visit
between my house and the  Pacific Ocean.

April

April

 She is a gorgeous month.

I honor the bee in April.

Special bee things come out to dress the April house.

                       April
is National Poetry Month.

I read poems off and on all day long
in April.

I think poems when I walk.

All sorts of poems please me in April.

Thinking girl poems.

I love bug poems.

April

I have begun to make plans.

It is the pink month.

There are many events in April.

We are ready.

April is full of surprises.

Lisa, from Greenbow, sent a surprise.
She made me a beaded bookmark
to celebrate Spring!
She is so kind to think of me.
I shall use it in my wetland journal.
I will think of Lisa while on safari each week.

The wind is blowing strong out of the Southwest
again today.
Storms are on their way.
April showers for May flowers.

Happy April!
