Daffodils

The Daffodils have begun
to bloom.

This clump is in a southern exposure
flower bed near the house.

Some food for a bee.

All the flower beds but one have daffodils.
I will see which clumps need dividing this spring.
I will mark them so in the Autumn I can find them.
I need about 500 bulbs to do my next flower bed.

It is cloudy today and kind of chilly.
The sunshine crawls out of the throat of the Daffodil
and spills out onto my face.
I am having tea with the Daffodils today.
I am waiting for a bee.

Lovely lovely daffodils...mine are battered and torn due to the bad weather.
I hope that your bee came to visit, sweet bee.

'Sunshine crawls out of the throat of the daffodil' sounds like a line in a poem. Sweet.

Dear Cheryl,
I remember you were cutting Daffs for your house. I will start to do that too soon. Once they begin blooming I go around each morning and snip the broken stems for inside enjoyment.
I did not see a bee! Maybe today.

Dear Lisa,
I was laying on the ground looking into the cup of the daffodil when that thought came through. I actually was going to write a poem but was distracted by the thoughts of dividing the daffodils. I am working on the spicebush hedge bed this year. It is the understorey for the White Pines. It needs its daffodils and its muscari border. I also want to plant ground cover. Right now I am thinking periwinkle.
Lots to do in Spring!

Dear Mari-Nanci,
Seeing the daffodils in bloom is exciting. I see the buds in all the beds and know it is only a matter of days before more will open. Spring is exciting with something new every day.
Come April I will be outside cleaning beds and planting seeds.

Dear Cathy,
Thank you. I do have thousands planted all over the yard. The first to bloom are the most exciting. Now I will wait for each bed to burst forth in bloom.
Still waiting on the butterflies.

I just adore daffodils, jonquils, hyacinth, bluebells, but muscari are my absolute favourite. I have no idea why, but their humble little bells just thrill me, & the colour is divine.
My mother in law, was a thorn in my life, but I was forever grateful she gave me the little Grape Hyacinth bulbs, & they multiplied for me, & gave me such joy for the years we lived with the garden we had then.

Wow, you have planted so many?! It must be overwhelming to see them all bloom pretty soon! You're right, the first ones are always welcomed impatiently! Ours have been covered with snow for the last few days, but they are also blooming.
Have a good time!

Dear Meggie,
The Muscari are my favorite too.
thank you for sharing your story of your relationship with these darling little bulbs.
I dug a few hundred out of a garden club member's yard many years ago. I have done, like you, divide and divided them. Now all my beds are edged. When they bloom my heart just is so full of happiness. They are small but enmass they are are outstanding! Bees love them too.

Dear Barbara,
I have hunreds and hunreds of daffs! I will keep dividing them too. Once I get the flower beds cleaned and the daffs all are in bloom the yard does look very pretty. I also feel comfortable in cutting daffodils for my tables inside.
Spring is a beautiful time of year.

Dear Marvin,
Thank you. I laid down on the ground near the daffodils. LOL!
I will do some more daffodil photos as they open. Enmass plantings are so pretty when all the flowers are in bloom.
