I love the pictures Sherry......very spiritual and emotive for me.......it goes very deep.......we do not celebrate thanksgiving......but I shall be thinking of you all tomorrow and count my blessings......it is good sometimes just to stop and think about those around us and be thankful........I am sincerely thankful to have you as a dear and very special friend........
This was the first poem I memorized years ago - it was so full of magical words and imagery - I still get goosebumps when I hear or read it. Thanks for the post, Sherry! Have a wonderful tomorrow! Thank you for your blog!
Dear Cheryl,It is a fine poem. It speaks to me too. I am so glad you like it. A little bit different take on the American Thanksgiving theme. The attitude of gratitude is a good way to live. I am blessed to know great friends and kindred spirits like you. Our blogs have connected us in a real way. My celebration for Thanksgiving this year is to spend the day with the birds at a nature reserve about three hours from my home. I am grateful I am not cooking a huge meal! I have done one for 35 years...time to do something different.Blessings to you and yours, each day!Sherry
Dear Sue,It is an incredible work. I have only read the entire poem at one setting once. I get started and everytime I get called away. Reading outloud is the best for me. I really get the feeling of the words. It IS a magical piece. The word pictures are vivid and the way Hiawatha learns about growing maize just thrills me!My favorite is the "Wooing of Minnehaha". Always the romantic.Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. I also am grateful for you and your blog!Poems are word paintings and yours are divine! Thank you,Sherry
This is a beautiful piece. Happy Thanksgiving to you as well!
Happy Thanksgivings Sherry. I haven't read the poem in a long time.
Thank-you for the Thanksgiving wishes and a wonderful and fitting poem. We are certainly thankful to have had a family and food to share today...and thankful for the blogs and friendly people out in the Web who share so much with us. :-)
Dear Mimi,I think next year I will buy the audio version. It would be a fun to do my chores "By the shores of the Gitche Gumee."Happy thanksgiving to you and yours,Sherry
Dear Cathy,Hope you get a chance to read the entire poem. It doesn't take too long! Wonderful poem.Happy Thanksgiving,Sherry
Dear Chris,Happy Thanksgiving.I would like to plan a long weekend trip for next Thanksgiving. Going to see the Snow geese was very nice. I am so thankful there are wild places for the birds.Sherry
I hadn't thought about this poem for years Sherry. Another thing to be thankful for, thank you and Happy THanksgiving.
Dear Lisa,Longfellow wrote an amazing piece. It took him a year and a half to do so. I will be getting it on audio. I love to be read to. I think "The Song Of Hiawatha" would be so nice to listen to while driving to see the Sandhill Cranes. This is my plan for next Thanksgiving!I am grateful for you and your friendship.Sherry
