White Lilac

When I raised the window shade this morning
I saw the White Lilac was in bloom.
I opened the bedroom window and closed my eyes.
I did my morning meditation to its
heavenly scent.

The White Lilac grows on the east side of my house.

A fellow gardener gave me a tiny slip from her bush 18-20 years ago.

I left the window open.

I cut a couple of sprays for the house.
I cut one for my hair.
The smell of White Lilac is intoxicating.

The lilac is beautiful and certainly the smell is intoxicating. You have white, my favourite. Ours is pale lilac but smells just as divine. We have just had a thunder storm and hail stones. Will this weather ever stop.

Beautiful, beautiful! I can smell the fragrance. I so love lilacs. Looks like mine might not make it this year - we still have freezing nights, but no snow since yesterday!

Dear Cheryl,
The clouds have come over my house this afternoon and the forecast is for thundershowers this evening again and into tomorrow. I grab the sun shine when I am able.
I also have three French Lilac bushes which are also pale in color
and strong in scent. I am enjoying the Lilac this year so very much. Last year the blooms were nipped just as they were opening.
Climate change has come to my backyard.

Dear Sue,
Oh my goodness...this seems very late in the Spring for snow. Perhaps your Lilac will bloom in May?? I hope so. You deserve a long beautiful Spring...you have waited long enough.

White lilac - how gorgeous! I can just imagine the scent. You are much further along than we are - today I woke to find my daffodils in bloom :-}

Beautiful pics of your lilac, Sherry. We don't have a lilac but I remember my parents had one :-) Heavenly scent!

Sherry, After reading this and seeing your beautiful white lilac I dashed outside to see if our white lilac was blooming. Not yet. This post made me get off my seat and look around this evening. I was so tired I didn't think I wanted to go outside. I am happy that I did because I found several things blooming now that weren't this morning. Spring is so much fun. My little walk about snapped me out of my dulldrom.

Dear Deb,
It is so exciting to see the different spring flowers bloom. I am enjoying this Spring so very much. It has been a cool and slow spring which after last year is just fine!
We have frost forecasted for next week!
I do enjoy the Lilacs. I can see the French Lilacs from my office window and they are just about ready to open. I will cut some of them for the entry way...
Spring and the world smells heavenly!

Dear Chris,
I do enjoy the scent of Lilac.
I was telling my husband at supper last night I would like to have a couple of old fashioned Lilacs like my parents had in their back yard. The perfume is so heady that I still can remember it drifting in the windows of my childhood.
My Lilacs smell divine but are softer.

Dear Lisa,
I think my white lilac blooms a bit early because it is right next to the house. I do enjoy the scent coming into the bedroom window.
Glad your bloom check was fun! I notice a change from morning to night. Spring is very exciting this year. We have had a cool spring so flowers are lingering. I am loving it!
Getting your fence up was lots of work! It looks very pretty. Hope you get to relax a bit before planting your new gardens!

Dear Mary,
As long as the White Lilac is in bloom I will be starting my day with a Lilac meditation....
Inhale and hold...exhale.
Inhale and hold....ahhhhh...

Hi Q,
You must be a few weeks ahead of us, as their is a white lilac treen in the garden next to the signal box.I always like it when you can have the windows open in the early morning filling the box with it's scent.I only wish it would last a bit longer.

Cheers Mark

Oh yes, I so love the smell of lilac. Sad though, my husband has always been allergic to them. And even I am developing odd allergies, as I age. Needless to say, this is not a perk of aging.

But... 'tis life. :-)

I just have to catch a whiff of someone else's lilacs, now and then. And run away quickly. ,-)

Dear Mark,
It has been a cool spring at my house so many of the blooms are lasting longer than normal. I am enjoying that!
The parade of flowers continues as the season unfolds. I love the smells.

Dear Mari-Nanci,
Developing allergies as you age...
I am so sorry to hear this. I would be in big trouble being a bee person and all..I wonder if you could eat raw honey and some how it would help?
