Dancing with Spring

I went to sleep last night to the sounds of thunder and rain.

This morning the crocus were shimmering in the fog.

It was 60 degrees when I fed the birds,

50 degrees when I took my morning walk.

The periwinkle is in bloom.

The temperatures are dropping.

Tonight it is to be 19 degrees.

The forsythia is showing color.
Spring is showing her petticoats as she dances about.
She is flirting with old Man Winter.

Dear Belen,
Yes, these are different crocuses.
The vinca is so pretty when it blooms. It is a ground cover down the street. I think the periwinkle is a beautiful color.
Happy Spring to you too!

Dear Sherry....such pretty photographs of the crocus....I do love the white. I saw a bank of them alongside the roadway today....so beautiful......

We to have had rain today and such a cold wind....I am tired of the wind, it just won't give up and go away......

I have mallards in the garden at the moment....they visit morning and evening. I have to make sure Nella is kept in the front garden when they are around.....

Lovely words as always.....flirting with old man winter....what a delightful thought......

Feed the birds and enjoy the beautiful blooms for me! We still have a couple of months before we dare have hope for spring. :)

Dear Cheryl,
It is so cold right now....Hard to believe I was outside with the birds and walking in my short sleeves this morning.
I have planted many white crocus so I was pleased to see some were up. I too love them...I like white flowers.
The wind will tire me out before cold or heat. I understand perfectly well what you mean. We work in any weather but sometimes it is tiring.
How very exciting to have a pair of Mallards so near! Perhaps they will bring the ducklings over.
Spring is exciting. It is my new favorite season...I used to be an Autumn girl...I still love Autumn...
It is still early for Spring at my house. I just love the way she slips in and out. Mostly I love the way she slips in!
Happy Spring,
Sherry

Dear Vikki,
Springtime in Alaska must be a celebration of surving the winter!
At least you are on this side of spring..the hopeful side.

More raindrops!!!! She loves the dark crocuses, while I prefer the white ones!! And I love the hyacinth in the next post, too!

Well I hope Mistress Spring flings her petticoats into Old Man Winter's face and he runs away to hide for another year, LOL!

Your pics are so perfect! I love the raindrops nourishing your crocus and forsythia. Your periwinkle is brave. I hope the cold front doesn't damage it. I know crocus will survive. (I thought the plural of crocus was crocuses. Hmmmmm... guess not!)

I heard it is chilly over on your side of the state. It's dropped 10 degrees here in the last 10 minutes. It's now 63, at about 6:30pm.

The crocus with raindrops are gorgeous!!

I like the idea of Spring flirting with Ole Man Winter. I hope Mz Spring can lure Ole Man Winter away soon. Like your area it is to be cold here again tomorrow. I was kind of gettting used to those 70+ degree days.

Oh my goodness. Once that forsythia starts, there's no turning back. It's spring!!! Even if it's 19 degrees out there.

Sherry-you sure have turned into a wooly maniac since I last talked to you. Not to deter you from your fiber pursuits but I thought of you when I ran across this...

(Dang. I don't know how to make a link in the comments box. If the pieced together link address doesn't work, look up "Aganetha Dyck Michael Gibson Gallery" on google.

I am s w a m p e d at work for a MONTH but when it's definitely warm out again, maybe we can meet up at Cafe Seed (I've never been there, it's African vegan I think) or Eden Alley. K?

The droplets of fog give some very nice pictures. I like your variety in crocus colors.

I think spring is only smiling across the room here - the sun is warmer, but winter is still here a bit longer.

A beautiful post, Sherry! I like the image of Spring "showing her petticoats":) It is much colder here today, too, but we know that soon spring will be here in full dress.

Dear Judy,
I love all of the early Spring flowers! I have lots of crocus. I force them each winter so I have the bulbs to replant each spring. A different way of doing the bulbs but it works for me!
It is so cold today I have yet to put my nose out.
Hope the flowers made it through the bitter cold..16 degrees this morning!

Dear Wendy,
I hope she does chase him away...I expect he will try to woo her...only when the strong song of summer sings will she be able to stay still and let the gentle south wind stoke her hair!
Thank you! I had fun taking today's photographs. I think crocus and crocuses are both right!
It is so cold and now I have birds wanting seed....
Best go bundle up and feed them...

Dear Pat,
Looks as if the cold is on it's way to you.
I thought of you today when I did a place setting with the yellow and green block optic depression glass dishes. Sometimes I will add the pink in. So lovely!
Stay warm. Spring is really here just hiding at the moment!

Dear Lisa,
I think it has been warmer in your gardens than mine! Hope the deep freeze doesn't cause any damage to any tender sprouts!
I am very ready for spring...

Dear Maria,
Thank you for the link. Very cool.
I am smitten forever with fiber. My spinning wheel is a dream come true. Just bought my first knitting needles...
Cafe Seed sounds wonderful. I am going to Portland next week and will be back in April...
Lunch and catch up....
k!

Dear Chris,
It was cold here today but not as cold as what you had!
The sun did feel warm...I sat outside for a little bit this afternoon with the birds. I like crocus. I think I have 100 downstairs to plant out in April for next year's bloom. They were pretty in my house in January.
Spring will come before too long.
I will have lots of work in April when she stays around!
Sherry

Dear Rose,
She will be here soon to stay!
I see the grass is beginning to green and it is in the teens at night.
I love Spring but can wait. I remember the loss of so many plants in 2007.
Stay warm.

Exquisite images!

I've only seen one vinca blossom in real life and that was in my bathtub where I had placed it to 'winter over'! Usually by the time the snow has melted, the blossoms have evaporated.

Have a beautiful visit, Sherry!

Wow, these are very very very very very beautiful. The colours are intense and the individual droplets of water are like self contained universes.

19° ! I can just dream of it! But crocuses are reality here too! With and without raindrops! Your pictures are outstanding!
